Schneiderlin is a good player but I don't see him as a £25m player. Modric was only fractionally more and he was out of this world. I know the money in the game has moved a lot in a few years but seriously. 15-18 would be about market rate above that and you are getting bent over!
On the contrary if he solved our DM problems which he would in a jiffy, then that would transform the team almost overnight. He is quality and the right age, if Cabaye is worth £15m then MS is worth £22-25m. His position on the pitch is the engine room of the team, his presence last season would have made a huge difference to our goals conceded stat that buggered us up, in plain terms his presence in the team would probably have got us CL last season, the way we were scoring goals. How much would that of been worth ? It certainly would have made him a bargain.
Unfortunately It ain't gonna a happen.

If we can offer Townsend aswell, anything between £12-18m we should absolutely just put an offer in. Every day that passes where he's still at saints gives us a glimmer of hope

Sounds good but everyone seems to think Townsend is going, except Townsend himself who has clearly stated he wants to stay = slight problem.

He's at the age now where he needs to be playing regular first team football week in week out if he wants to stay anywhere near the england setup. I think if poch told him he wasn't in his plans, he'd be willing to move on imo

Maybe Levy has realised that since Modric left he has spent £40-45m on midfielders and the only ones of any use to Poch are club graduates, and even then we are still short? (Dembele more of a utility option)

Its not about what you spend, its how you spend.

Think Poch played him enough last season to make that unlikely - unless we get another winger in, then it's more likely. But would S-Hampton want him ? That's another big question.

It's clear having a top class CM is essential to the side when playing a double pivot. Does the price really matter than much when there's so much at stake? How much would you pay for a CL spot and winning a cup?

According to the ITK we are very likely to get some sort of wing forward in, if one were to arrive maybe townsend would realise he's surplus to requirements and then regular first team football at Southampton wouldn't be out of the question.
Also southampton allegedly put a bid in of £15m last year on deadline day, but whether they would still be interested idk

It'd take a lot of luck and things

That's exactly what needs to happen, at the same time Manure need to look elsewhere for a DM and Saints need to be shown a DVD of Townsbellend's best bits last season, multiple times, in slow mo and with sexy music. Then finally MS needs to think nobody else is coming in for him and start answering calls form Poch. Don't put your life savings on it happening though cos it's highly unlikely IMO. Hope I'm wrong. Although MS might think does he really want to compete with Carrick, ? And then there's our shiny new stadium. Damn it's not entirely impossible.

All hinges on the big boys going elsewhere with their targets, still have a feeling the scum will put a bid in if united's interest cools.

#saintsfc Reed adds if United or any club want Schneiderlin they pay the valuation or he'll remain at club, which player is aware of

  2. #saintsfc Les Reed confirms no improved bid from #mufc for Morgan Schneiderlin, despite United saying their interest remains in player
Utd definitely keeping him on the back burner then...

So suggests they'll sell to us but also that MS has been briefed he will stay. Not sure if believe either of those things!

I've a feeling this year could be Townsend's breakthrough season.

how many times has it got to be said?
he [MS] would not deal until he returned from WC.
when he got back Soton had sold everybody else, the fans were up in arms and they decided no-one else would leave which prompted MS to put out his tweet about being refused a transfer

This is one transfer that is low enough risk to actually be worth the money. Schneiderlin is home grown, knows Pochettino, knows the PL and would fit straight in

I think we need to take advantage of united moving slow, 25ish mil for him is whatever, not high risk and would improve our first team without question

But he'll say yes to us if there's no chance of a move to a CL club - we could probably move quickly all we like, but I doubt he'd say yes at this stage.
