Yeah always thought they would go for both. LVG will probably switch to a full 433 next year, so they'll want plenty of options at CM.
Amazed that LVG is hailed as some sort of great manager, I mean how much money have they thrown at that team now? and they don't look an exactly stellar team.

I was just thinking the same thing, I mean if they still sign MS it'll will mean bedding in another load of new players. They still need a CB and a striker if RVP leaves.

Midfield: De Maria, Herrera, Mata, Carrick, Fellani, Blind, and now Scweinsteiger

One thing about Utd staying in for Schneiderlin. Why haven't they done it already if it's unrelated to Schweinsteiger?
Soton are clearly sticking to their valuation so it's put up or shut up.

Seems crazy for United to pony up 25m to add Schneiderlin on top of Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Blind, Carrick, and Fellaini.

But hey, they're United and no one can tell them otherwise.

Say what you want about Poch, but we are lucky that we did not end up with LVG. Never would have worked with his mindset of buying his way out of trouble.

I can see the Schneiderlin saga rumbling a little while longer. I really hope that we don't hang on in there with this, whilst our other targets go elsewhere only for United to leave it late. Would United keep stringing him along to screw us over?

I would say it has something to do with United's qualifier into the Champions League

Imagine if Carrick was available to us, would we want him? I like an older player but isn't he 34? That's a bit too old imo. Also he's always injured and I still don't know if I'd be comfortable with him back at the lane

I don't think 34 year olds are the direction our new manager wants to go int.

Bit more from Jasper

getting him or not few weeks back all his noises was he wanted us. I believe we have moved on and hope that is the case. United may come in strong eventually and believe they possibly will. Too much things happen behind closed doors, like us getting Toby.

If Utd are moving to 4-3-3 I'd probably expect them to bring in 2 new CMs. First choice 3 of Di Maria-Schneiderlin-Schweinsteiger with back up of Blind-Carrick-Herrera looks pretty damn strong tbf.

Really hope we haven't been holding out on targets in some faint hope of getting him. We really could have done with a new CM in before we start the season.

One thing we all seem to be ignoring - he ghas already turned us down in the press "I will only leave for a club in the champions league" - he would look a right tit if he doesn't go to a champs league club. I know the retort will be "but what if we're his only option" - we're not, he can stay somewhere he is settles and play EL games as well. He has two years left on his contract and realises that, if he stays another year, he'll he even more money as buying him will be less.

As much as I want this to happen I simply don't see him forcing a move this summer- if United or Arsenal don't want him, he will stay at SCBC
