He's no good then?
He seemed decent enough in the Europa games. He works hard and has good feet. Keeps it simple.
He's no good then?
Mikel hardly played this year, they should be promoting RLC & playing Zouma. Jose put his head on the line at the start of the season and said if one of the current youth players doesn't break into the team, he has failed, well RLC replacing Mikel is the perfect way to start.Well yeah. Implies there's real interest from at least one big Club.
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if its Chelsea. They'll get rid of Mikel.
Other than McCarthy there isn't really much to go on in the Premier League. That kind of ball playing defensive midfielder is thin on the ground. Is Rodwell at Sunderland worth a look or have Man City completely ruined him?

Is Stambouli not good enough then?
Serious question as I have hardly seen him play.
Also why did we buy him, Poch must have given a nod for hm.
Out of all the players in the world, i refuse to believe there isn't someone as good as MS available. We must have other options.
They would still have Cesc, Matic, Ramires, RLC and Zouma for 2 positions and don't forget they have one of the best injury records in the PL. I think they should be prioritising an AM for the 1st team (I don't think Oscar or Willian are good enough to start for a team whop wants to win the CL) and someone to challenge Costa.Yeah, but it still wouldn't surprise me. And if Matic were to get injured they'd be short.
Schneiderlin wasn't even linked away until Poch left, so I don't think Poch would have looked for a replacement, perhaps back up though.Michael Bridge, the Sky journo who's a Spurs fan and seems to gets decent info, said a couple of days ago that Stambouli was one of the targeted replacements for Soton last season, should MS have left. That suggests to me he was a previous Poch target.

He never was for a few reasons, the most important being we would never pay what Southampton would want for himI think its quite categorical, he ain't coming to Spurs.

Fazio, Stambouli, Davies, Dier, Vorm, Yedlin, Alli, Wimmer, and likely Trippier. If the deal for Trippier is completed, those 9 players will constitute our most recent signings. Notice something about all of them? It's surely not a coincidence that the most outgoing money spent on any of these players was Fazio at 8 million pounds (Davies being a swap deal). Given all of this, there clearly are major spending restrictions that would make a signing like Schneiderlin impossible, even if he was somewhat interested in Spurs. Some of the other names people are mentioning also will be too expensive for us (McCarthy, Kondogbia, etc).
It's best for everyone to really scale back expectations for this summer. Maybe we'll get lucky and grab a few experienced players like Alex Song (counts as HG, too) and Mirallas, who are running down their contracts or are not needed at their current clubs.
I don't see the connection.
The value of a player, in our history, has shown to be in his suitability rather than price.
I think it's more likely that Pochettino wouldn't want to spend money needlessly, as he seems to be more interested in work ethic than star status.
Said it before, we wont be spending big and certainly not on midfielders and Levy confirmed that in his letter.9 most recent signings. That, and it's also possible he's wanted to conserve funds made available so he can get in the players he views as more essential, especially if he/they cost(s) more.
Personally I'm not bothered by making squad additions as I think our depth and balance is off anyway, but we've just made some unwise ones recently.
It sounds stupid, but I'm more excited about our youth/academy/U21 players and the lesser known bargains, than being let down by some big-name £20m player.
Much better judging Mason, Bentaleb, Kane, Yedlin, Dier etc. without worrying about justifying price tags
Roberts doesn't have much pace, so we would need to still bring in a fast winger anyway. And Redmond isn't good enough IMO.Agreed. Personally delighted to seeing us return to shooting for young Englishmen rather than combing the continent for bargains, or dumping cash on more unknowns.
As much as I've preached for Konoplyanka on here, I would honestly prefer to even see us pick up Roberts or Redmond before getting him (although were Roberts a choice, expectations would have to be tempered of course).
