Would love Schneiderlin. No issue for me if we were to sell Dembele, loan out Bentaleb and then go toward next season with Sandro, Capoue, Schneiderlin, Paulinho and Carroll as our midfielders. Love that blend, personally.
We'd probably not concede much with that midfield but I doubt we'd score much as well. If we kept Bentaleb and sold Capoue or Sandro then this transfer would make sense otherwise we'd have way too many CDMs in our squad. I know Schneiderlin is a good passer but he doesn't have the vision or creativity demanded by an effective DLP and Carroll is probably not ready yet for this level.

he is a very effective DLP imo. He dictates the match very well with his passing, much moreso than any of our deeper midfielders.

Terrific tackler too would be really happy with him. He'd be a big upgrade on Arteta as well so hopefully he doesn't end up at Arsenal he is just what they need.

He gets the ball forward and quickly enough but he doesn't interact with the forwards/wingers like a DLP. Far too few assists and key passes. From what I've seen of him, it appears his game is quick and clever push forward, and he then holds a position a good 20 yards or so more reserved than a DLP would upon driving the ball forward.

I like the player quite a bit, but despite Saints' formation this spells to me like a CDM would be on the way out.

Would much rather focus on a real quality midfield playmaker, don't need Schneiderlin with the likes of Capoue and Sandro

Dont really see the point in this, get rid of some good players buy some more good players and repeat. Is he better than Sandro? NO, is he better than Paulinho? NO, so what's the point? Yes we could do with a better passer in the deeper cm positions, but I'd rather go and sign a proper fucking DLP like Pjanic or not bother TBH. Unfortunately for some of our fans they feel we need to be making this kind of signing, I'm happy to wait untill transfer deadline day if it means we sign someone top quality.

Hmm I think he's in the same caliber as these, with potential for more

I guess given their ages and experience all have the potential for more but I'm very happy with the two we have, I certainly wouldn't want to lose either under the extremely questionable guise that Schneiderlin might prove the greater potential. Actually I think Capoue is the pick, but that's another matter, both Capoue and Sandro know the club now and we don't need another similar player. What we need is a proper playmaker with a better passing range and an ability to see and play those passes quickly accurately and well weighted to get us attacking far quicker than we do

Thing is, everyone said Capoue was a good player when we signed him. So potentially we could be signing a £10m player to replace a £10m player that hasnt really had a proper run in the team yet.

He's more creative than people are giving him credit for.

Similar qualities to Carrick.

Probably Sandro he didnt have a good year last time out.

Yeah of the two, I do think he would be the most likely to go. I don't think that we'd move for Schneiderlin if both stay though. Really don't think Poch is looking to play him alongside the CDM, thereby pushing Paulinho and Holtby back in the pecking order, and that's even assuming we sell Dembele.

Sandro is a great bloke but I would say Schneiderlin is the better player and one who is still improving who hasn't recently suffered a career changing injury.

As has been noted he's a technical player, it's not as some have suggested swapping Sandro/Capoue for a similar player, they are not alike.

There has been a lot of talk about Sandro wanting out. If this is true then I can see why Schneiderlin would be linked. Must admit I like Schneiderlin have done for a few years now.

I would prefer Banega though, a proper CM who has great vision and passing ability. Bit of a lunatic but he is damn good when focused.

Capoue, Banega, Eriksen is where the party is at.

Doubt we will or be able to get top quality at that stage to be honest the big players and clubs would have done business by then.
Only players left will be average or loan deal signings not what we need to try and improve.
