Mourinho admits to ‘wrong decisions’ on Bale and Alli as boss leaves door open for ‘good quality’ players

Of course. I can't speak for all the players but he's had a fair discussion with Bale very recently, which they both got their concerns out in the open. From what I'm told GB came out of it far more positive than he went in.

He doesn't want to return to Madrid and now knows exactly what Jose needs/expects of him. So that's at least Dele, Serge and Bale that have seen a side to Jose nobody thought existed.

Maybe it won't work or won't last. Thing is it's a change of tact, because whatever was happening before wasn't working.

All we've heard since day one from the nay sayers, is "same old Jose" and "he'll never change". Well they are wrong it's not the same guy that never took responsibility, and that is the good news imo.

As always you take these clear the air talks with a pinch of salt but this would be fantastic if they turned a corner, I made a post the other day saying I think Bale just needs to be backed with starts (possibly undeservedly so) in the hope the right attitude will follow. If these talks prove as positive as they sound then that's a real boost.

Also agree with what you're saying, I'm pleased Jose is showing compromise, this is what separates his time at Chelsea/United with us.

If you actually read the quotes, he’s not really saying he made a mistake not playing them. He’s said he’d of played them if they were fit to play as they are good players. See the quotes:

“Good players when they are fit and when they are ready and when they can [play] are always welcome, always welcome,” Mourinho told reporters after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

“We coaches sometimes we can make wrong decisions, we all do, but not one of us is crazy.

Not one of us says I don't want this player to help me and the team when the player has the potential and the conditions he needs to do it.

Hopefully this'll silence those who always charge Jose with never accepting responsibility and attributing blame to everyone else. Oh what am I thinking? This is the SC forum...
when he starts taking the heat for poor line ups and ridiculous subs i'll start listening.

Do we need to question this? I think not. What we need is a broader range of motivated players. This is the best point in the season for finding those within the present squad. So for me I think this is optimistic news and adds to my view that I believe we have the fundamental stuff in place to be able to go on a good run for the next couple of months.

Yeah, that title is very misleading.

He's just saying the same stuff about Dele he's been saying all season. It's a pretty sensationalist take.

Also clear the air talks are ways welcome but the club/levy needs to work out why it got to the stage where clear the air talks were needed

I'm not talking about the City game

This whole thread is about the City game... but point taken. Now, being one of Jose's fiercest critics on line-ups and tactics, I will be the first to say that he is definitely not above criticism there. At the same time, please recognise that poor line up / sub selection isn't an Ancient Egyptian curse levelled at any one Premiership Manager alone... records show that the sorcerer Imoteph tried, but Ramses stopped it.

If this is true its incredible its either an admisision of his failings or maybe even worse for him that he is being told what side to pick otherwise he is out the door

I think there has been something going on behind the scenes I imagine some sort of player meeting because the change in the sides set up from the games Brighton and Chelsea are so polar oppostie, though the change in the sides disposition has been absolutely welcome it surely makes his position untenable in the long term

Can I direct you to what it says in the article which has little to do with the headline.

Okay, so there's a slight disparity in the article and headline (as in all other cases), but the overall sentiment is there. But even if true, I don't see how his conduct with the press is any criteria to judge him by...
