Spurs are facing a hectic schedule and it could get even more congested if their Premier League game against Aston Villa is called off next week.
Jose Mourinho has sent a scathing warning to the footballing authorities that his Tottenham side will refuse to play two midweek games again amid a potential fixture pile-up.

The problem is not the club playing 2 games in a week. but the players having to do so.
The Fa should put a limit on minutes played in a given period in all competitions.
I'd argue players should get the equivalent of a free midweek every 2 weeks.

2 games in a week? You mean 3(with the midweek). We have pretty much been playing 3 games every week the entire season, bar the 1 week where we played 4. And i dont believe we have a free midweek left this season(provided we advance through the Europa & FA Cup). The amount of football the clubs in Europe have to play in this shortened season is gross. It’s worse for us as we had to play the 3 extra qualifying games for Europa. We should absolutely be rewarded the 3 points from Fulham & the 3 points from Villa(if that fixture cannot be played). If we are going to be forced to play 4 games in a week again this season, we should 100% refuse to play.

Sure, I agree that a stand needs to be taken but, quite rightly, Levy and Jose would totally rue the idea that its us that should take it, along with the unprecedented punishment. This affects all teams in Europe at some stage and refusing to play is not the sensible way to go about fixing it. All the teams need to get together and come up with a better strategy.

Jose is just using the media here to highlight the issue. He knows refusal is not an option at the end of the day.

But what is a good resolution to this? If we stay in cup competitions then there are no free spaces to add in more games now before the end of the season, and we can't keep going past then due to the euros! I know this worst case situation, but one that still needs to be looked at.

If teams could play the games (more than 24 players including youths) then why have others teams getting punished (playing games so close to each other) when the FA rules say it should have gone ahead. They added in that they would review each case on individual merits but that just opens it up to more controversy

How about just relaxing the registration rules for the rest of the season? Sure those with smaller squads may complain, but they're frankly unlikely to have as many games to fit in.

Yet again the FA need to look at what Rugby Union are doing in the Premiership but they won’t.
Quite simple for football, three points to the team who could fulfill the fixture, one to the team who couldn’t.
They’ve been operating like this since mid November.

Why do we have to compare this to poch era. You have no idea how poch would have reacted under a global pandemic which has claimed countess lives.
Simply because he was our manager for 5 years and never took a tough stance against football authorities on anything.

In short Poch nice bloke
Jose is a git
That's not really how you should judge a professional football manager though, Sir Alex was also an unpleasant bastard when he felt the need to protect United and his players.

Poch has yet to win silverware
Mourinho has won countless (big) trophies.

I wonder could the last day of the season be pushed out a week giving two more slots for games in hand? Once a team has two games in hand then no other postponements can be had. Forfeiting if a team cannot field 14 players.

What happens if the team with covid only has 1 or 0 games postponed but the other team has had 2 already?

Off course, your right. I wonder how Bill Nic would have coped as well, or Hoddle, redknapp more recently. Can you get back to me with how they would have coped with COVID etc.

trouble is if we refuse we will be the ones that get punished. the only way this season gets finished is if they bring out a ruling that if you can field the 14 players from your club you have to play whether that be U18 or not.

to be honest with the situation we are in now the whole season including europe should be canceled. Villa already are 2 games down and with the 10 days isolation could need to rearrange 4 more by the time their isolation is finished. it is not fare to punish teams involved in europe because a team without other commitments can't field their strongest 11

From the outside though, we also have a big squad with plenty of quality players who are barely getting minutes. Vinny, Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez, Bale, Lucas, Dele - plus talented kids like White who could do a job.

Admittedly there would be less time to prepare for games.
