Considering it's a highlights video, his first touch looks heavy several times and when he runs with the ball it doesn't feel like he is in control of the ball. As if he wins by strength and not by skill
But that's only the feeling that video gave me. I haven't seen a full match
Funny. I get that exact same feeling from watching N'Jie and I know that over time he will develop his ball control and a softer touch. Dembele is a few years younger. He will get there under the right tutelage.

He's only 19, but he doesn't look very good from those videos imo. I trust the scouting team though
100% in agreement with you on this. Considering the media hype and the potential for a cheap transfer I went into viewing those videos on a positive note. And that is not even considering the novelty of 2 Mous(s)a Dembele's. But I left those videos decidedly unimpressed. He was described as "strong, pacey and skillful". Saw no evidence of the 1st (not saying he isn't but that there was nothing in the video to confirm) and counter evidence to the 2nd and 3rd attributes.

But if Poch and Mitchell say he's good then I'm with them. It would be unwise for me to form any strong opinion on what little I have seen so trusting those paid to evaluate seems prudent.

Haven't been hugely impressed by what I have seen. Looks OK but not close to the quality we need in my view.

Imagine, potentially Kane gets a bad knock and we are starting with this guy up top away from home in the Champions League? Nah.

For me we need a more proven level as Kane's back up/competition. We have enough youngsters we are developing already and I don't see much in this player that's making me think he will ever be top draw.

Ha, I said 'imagine' and 'potentially'! My point is he might not be of the calibre to take us where we aim to be.

Spoke to a colleague who is a Fulham supporter. Says he has some skill and strength and there is definitely some potential there, but isn't ready for the PL yet.

I can see the advantages as he would no doubt understand he would be Kane's understudy, but I think Kane needs competition, not just emergency cover.

I remember saying a couple of years ago. I could never imagine Harry Kane being good enough for Spurs, look how that turned out. Just as well THFC don't rely on my judgement.......

I can see this being someone we buy for the future. Buy him now for cheap and loan him back to Fulham for the rest of the season then maybe a PL loan next season.

Low risk, high reward but not the answer to our current problems.

So would one to Lloris or Alder. But you can't keep 22 'first 11' players
That's a pretty odd argument to make. We have Vorm for Lloris and if we have genuine aspirations to have a proper go at League, FA Cup, Europa League then we need more striking options than we currently have. Whilst Son can fill in for Kane at a push for the odd game I think it would be sensible to have a genuine backup/competition?

Maybe long term was the wrong term to use but if Kane is out for even a few weeks (or loses his form for a period of time) then I think we have problems.

Vorm is dreadful and Wimmer is a big risk/step down from Alder. My point is that using Son or Njie at CF is no worse a solution than in many of our other positions.

At the risk of jinxing it, keepers don't get fatigued or injured s much as outfield players. I take your point about Toby and I think without him we'd be in big trouble, but just like a goal keeper, you don't bring on a defender to change the game.

Not only do we not have cover for Kane, but we have no one to bring off the bench to make a difference up front.

Disagree. Specially as Vorm and Wimmer naturally play in the positions they are backup, and neither Son or Njie are centre forwards. Plus I think Wimmer is Vertonghen's backup, not Toby, and he looks a very good player so far

Mmm, this one's all a bit 'Kenneth McEvoy'. Hyped by press far above ability just because he happens to share a funny similarity with one of our stars (name rather than physical appearance this time). Good, silly season stuff...
