It does seem Fulham will sell us dembele and not loan him back if they can get someone in on loan

It makes sense for all concerned

I don't actually think Fulham are fucking about I honestly believe they wanted to get in a replacement but have not been able to and are just a bit desperate, not like peace at the Albion.
As for getting people in during January it's been a big month for any of the big teams has it.

We only need 1 player to complete our squad. And we're hours away from signing him according to everyone apart from SkyBetRigging
It must've been said 1 million times on here but the people who own Sky Bet are different from the people who own Sky Sports.

Which is exactly what they have done - no more Sahas or Nelsons in the winter window; no more stop gap emergency players. So, apart from an out and out CF, where exactly is the need for Spurs to strenghten their squad (within reasons)?
It is well known that it is hard to get quality players in the winter wondow - not just for Spurs but for any team.
Personally I have been very relaxed about this window and won't get disappointed at all if Spurs won't buy any players.

I still have some minor hesitation about our CB options. We have/had 4 senior options, and as I see it are currently down to 2 fit/available.
Toby has played a lot of football.
Jan is currently injured.
Fazio whilst still here and fit, is clearly not fancied/trusted.
Wimmer is now stepping up nicely.

Moving beyond them to alternative options
Dier has played a lot already and is being used in midfield so unlikely to slot in.
Veljkovic apparently off.
Carter-Vickers is now next in line.

Should we have worked harder to move Fazio on and replaced him with a signing? Alternatively if we want to place faith in our young options, should we have moved Veljkovic up earlier to avoid the contract issue.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Oh I totally agree. I wonder if we have anyone we can send?

Fulham call off Moussa Dembéle’s £6m move to Tottenham over loan-back
• Spurs wanted striker now but Fulham said he must stay until summer
• Jordan Rhodes’s move from Blackburn to Middlesbrough also off

Fulham have angrily called off Moussa Dembélé’s proposed £6m move toTottenham Hotspur after a row over the centre-forward’s loan-back arrangement.

The west London club have insisted all along that Dembélé cannot and will not be allowed to play elsewhere for the remainder of the season given their precarious position just above the Championship relegation places and the imperative to keep hold of one of their few goal threats.

Their position has been thrown into sharper focus by the club being under a Football League transfer embargo.

Fulham negotiated a deal with Tottenham that would allow the 19-year-old to sign off on the deal now but return to Craven Cottage until the end of May. Dembélé’s Fulham contract expires at the end of the season and even though he would then be permitted to move as a free agent, they would still receive a fee for him at tribunal if he were to join an English club.

Dembélé underwent a medical at Tottenham on Saturday and the transaction looked set to be confirmed. But Tottenham have continued to push for the player to be allowed to join them straight away to the point where it became a deal-breaker. There is understood to be precious little chance of the deal being revived before the window shuts on Monday night.

Amid acrimony and accusations of agreements being reneged upon, Dembélé has been left disappointed and Tottenham will have to look elsewhere for the cover up front for Harry Kane that they need immediately. They could make a move for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino, the striker that they unsuccessfully tried to sign last summer.

If that means that we have to scupper the deal, we just have to loan him back. We want to have this guy.

Are we really pulling out of the deal because of this? He is a younge exciting player that we will get for a cut price fee anyway! We cannot walk away from this deal! COME ON!!

He is STILL under contract! The selling club (Fulham) does not like the terms offered. They want a loan back, they are in a relegation scrap. He has scored 10 goals for them. What choice do we have at present unless they cover his position if he goes now? Had they been safe he would be here by now, but they are not.

If he does not come now he will sign in the summer, of that I am convinced. Yes! We need a striker now! I am in agreement with that, and cannot rely on non specialist strikers of Chadli and Son, and Clint not back until probably April earliest.

I understand Fulham's position, but I don't understand if we pull out of the deal just because they want to loan him back. We should sign him anyway and loan him back if that is the only option they agree on. We can also sign another player during this window, because the Dembele deal is quite cheap (a good investment).
