I think he is good enough to go into the squad and play in the cup games. I always rated him the better prospect out of himself, Onohmah and Winks.

Prob not next year. He's playing in a league that's equivalent to the conference. The kid has talent but needs a championship loan before he's considered for first team squad.
Why does he need conference experience? If he's good enough he is good enough. Conference football is not a pre-requisite for becoming a good premiership player. Rooney and co says hi!

All this Rooney bashing is unreal. He's world class and he just gets so much shit from every football fan. What suggests he's overrated?

Yes, a strange thread so far - but par for the course on SC.

A good write up on Nathan in the Daily Record:
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...ers-starlet-nathan-oduwa-demonstrates-6397164

Some excerpts:
The on-loan Spurs kid is not rubbing his opponents’ noses in it. He is simply a born entertainer doing his job in a wonderfully imaginative manner.

It was Oduwa, though, who had the 44,050 Ibrox crowd out of their seats every time he got the ball before being substituted in 70 minutes to rapturous applause.

Oduwa’s dazzling feet, his electric change of pace and the effortless demonstration of his natural skills saw him set up Tavernier and McKay for their goals as well as win one of the penalties converted by Waghorn in a display that brought him the Man of the Match award.

Oh please. Comparing Glasgow Rangers and the Scottish Championship with the Conference.

Wouldn't get 49000 and 44000 at a Conference game for a start.

Glasgow Rangers vs Forest Green or whoever ?? !!

Rangers fan at work is raving about him. It was a great run to earn the penalty. The commentary for the goal was brilliant or should I say stunning!!

I watched his last game against Raith, yes I was that bored I streamed a Scottish 2nd division match to watch Oduwa, and he was very impressive. Confident, quick, powerful, full of tricks but also enough about him to have a little bit of end product, all in front of 42000 people. I also noticed his application was good in covering a full back a couple of times, certainly not his favourite aspect but it is an important indication of his ethic.

But to temper peoples rush to excitement, the opposition he is doing this against would quite possibly not be good enough to stay in League 2 in England.

It's a good induction to 1st team football and the confidence and experience he is gaining will be important, but at this level I don't believe his performances demand an introduction to the prem-there is a while to go and higher level loans first IMO.

Nathan Oduwa getting rave reports in Scotland. The EPL is a step up I know but it seems we have another good young prospect on his way to our first team squad next year.
Just seen Pritchard to be loaned, are we really bringing through youth, with pooch ignoring milo, winks and so far onomah. What do you have to do as obviously a World Cup winner (captain?), albeit junior, can't even get on a preseason tour. Be interesting to know what the thinking is behind all this and what the incentives are with Spurs. At least soton are really giving players a run to prove themselves

I thought this loan was more about:
- Regular playing time.
- Toughen him up and get used to some tougher tackles.
- Play with a coach who will put faith in him and wants a team to play proper football.
- Play in front of large crowds of fans who expect the team to walk every game. (sound familiar?)

The standard of opposition and whether it equates to Vauxhall Conference, League 2, League 1 etc is almost incidental. Get him playing, having fun and learning to play regularly against men that quite possibly want to foul him rather than attempt a clean tackle. If it all works out and his character is up to it after a season then decide where he goes next.

Ignoring milo is a crime in itself. Explanation required.

Explanation is the coaches know a lot more about the player than you, or any other poster on the site. If they think he'll add something, then they'll play him. Maybe he's not as good as you lot think.

Pritchard isn't going to be loaned, and how on earth has he ignored Winks and Onomah? They both are training with the first team and have squad numbers, and both played quite a lot in the post-season and pre-season matches. What do you expect us to do? Start them from the off in the Premier League? Great idea.

Firstly i didnt say start did I. If we look at the first games, we could have done with Onomah against against stoke or leicester and maybe everton who were pretty dire. We lacked imagination in those games even with the chances against Everton and could have easily introduced one of them. (yes i know pritchard got ten minutes)

But the news today is that Pritchard will be loaned this is why i commented and still ask what do our young players have to do to get in the first team with Poch. None of the academy players there so far are down to him so it would be interesting to understand what the thoughts are behind the current crop. Instead of flying off the handle (seemingly) read through my comment it makes sense. Especially if you have a look at the official site and see that neither Onomah or Winks are on the first team list and are still on the dev squad. I am not someone who screams for players to be put into the first team I just think onomah in particular could have been used as a sub to try and impact a game. My point is are they fancied yes or no and are we ignoring opportunities to give them a chance and what is the longer term impact of this on players perceptions of we give youth a chance.
