The cooing on here demonstrate how massively overhyped he is. He's a good player, but just like Sheamus Coleman, he's made to look better due to defensive organisation. Walker would absolutely smash it at Southampton.

I've watched him numerous times. The fact he can dribble past a player and deliver a ball into the box that doesn't hit the first man is a significant upgrade over Walker.

I'm sure you have. I've never seen him play.

I can't wait until Walker comes back properly after his injury. I'm sure plenty of those slating him so persistently were also desperate for consistent Premier League performer Ben Davies to replace Danny Rose.

He didn't win young player of the year though pity either.
Full pre-season under his belt and he will be back to his best next season I think/hope.

There's one thing coming back to his best but another to come back better, since he won YPOTY his progress has unfortunately stalled but I hope to see some steady improvement next season.

Only seen him in recent games for England and he was the poorest player on the pitch. When Walker came on in one match he was a complete upgrade. OK that is only two matches but bearing in mind how all the 'star' Southampton players who were sold last season have failed to look anything but average at their new clubs I can't see the point of even being interested in Clyne

Man, I'd love Walker to get back on form but I worry that he has lost that half yard of pace and now is being beaten because if his bad positioning. Something is pace covered before. He also can't cross which is a big issue for a RB in Poch's system. Clyne would solve this, but also block all the talent we have coming through. It's a tough call.

Me too.
I think all the constant changes to our coaching staff haven't helped his development either. Under Harry he was one of the best right backs in the league for me.

Yeah, of course there's always a risk that he won't come back to his best, but even in his brief cameo this season I thought he added something to our play.

I don't think he's an amazing footballer, but he brings something to the table. As soon as he got injured again, our play became flat again and in my opinion we miss him occupying fullbacks more than has been noted.

It also throws attackers off when they don't know whether our right back is going to make up 30 yards on them and dispossess them cleanly, or flying leg drop our own goalkeeper.

Without question, no doubt about it whatsoever. Unfortunately "it" will be on the edge of the 18 yard box, and will result in a needless freekick and, ultimately, a goal for the opposition :cautious:

I'd like us to develop yedlin if poch feels he has the potential to tap into. Walker is hopelessly positioned sometimes and whilst I do think this position needs work, I don't think we need to sign clyne, rather work with what we have. Other pressing matters.

I rate Coleman highly, terrific full back....we should get him.

Not convinced about Clyne. At times I'm very impressed with him, plenty of other times though where I've been less so. He attacks with intent and conviction which is refreshing compared to Walker's indecisiveness and faffing around with the ball, but he actually isn't the best technically under pressure and he does switch off a lot, both with and without the ball.

For the price they would ask for him I'd be more inclined to give Fredericks and Yedlin a chance.

It will be interesting to watch what happens with transfers at Soton this year. Their chairman was canny enough to milk Liverpool dry last year. What have they done with that dough? If they have to cover operating expenses then they will need extra money from transfer deals but will they hold their nerve?

See a lot of people say give lamela a chance as he came back from a serious injury. Walker had a worse injury yet we wont give him a chance?
Yes he makes mistakes but he didn't get in the england side through pity.
Maybe not through pity, but the English squad isn't chosen through reason.

I wake up some mornings half expecting myself to be chosen for the squad and I'm not even English.

Well, I guess Clyne is not coming now that Trippier is apparently joining Spurs. And even if Tippier won't come (ntohg is confirmed yet), I can't see Spurs fork out £15-20M on Clyne anyway. Let ManU use the money instead (like they did on Luke Shaw)
