Renew interest in Brazilian winger

2nd July 2007
By Staff Writer

Spurs are set to renew their interest in Brazilian winger Nene after his agent has indicated he would welcome a move to England.
Spurs previously made a bid for the left sided Celta Vigo winger during the January transfer window without success, but after the player's agents comments the north London club are likely to rekindle their interest as they look to resolve their well documented left sided problems.
Antonio Cardozo, agent to Nene, told the Sunday Mirror:
"We expect a deal to be done before the start of the season."
Spurs are not alone in their admiration of Nene and could face competition from fellow Premiership clubs, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham.

It's also in the Daily Mail

Nene? Ain't that a river?

River Phoenix to ply for Spurs:eek:mg:

Seriously, though, buy a LM and then maybe all of these rumours can be scotched once and for all.

If BMJ wants to do a grap-and-run on MGP I'll gladly drive the get-away skateboard:grin:

I think the key words here are: 'his agent indicated'.

When did we make a bid in January? We were rumoured to be interested, and there was talk of a swap for Mido, but talk was all it was, and pretty muted talk at that.

Exactly, it was also pretty muted talk from people who wouldnt know anyway

I would like to see a LW at the Lane to compliment/contrast with Stead.

I don't want to see a LW bought just for the sake of it.

Reports are very mixed about this lad, would it be good business...

I would rather let Blackburn buy him...and then take MGP to the biger club that we are:up:

Are you on drugs?

Otherwise you had best have a prety good explanation and start deploying it now (bear in mind that John Stead is a striker, not a LW).

Unless you originally meant Steed then I stand by what I said

I habitually spell MalAprop as Stead - this is primarily 'cos I is a FCUKwit:grin:

I do, however, as a normative refer to John Stead as 'That rather un-football player looking chap who flatters to deveive somewhat especially in the minds-eye of retards like Greame 'Souey' HolenessSouMESS former mismanager of Blackburn Rovers (amongst the 5 million clubs buffoon boy has duped into letting him manager - some not even in the Briotish Isles - Watch this Jimmy I'll show yous how to incite a riot in a Turkish football - who does he think he is Scott of the Anarctic:grin:

Prepare yourself to unstand by what you said:razz:

I didn't see him, but my mate is Valencia supporter, he watched his team against Celta Vigo and he told me he was very impressed by him and looked dangerous some times. He also said that he could be good for us. ( during last season ).

for me, I really prefered a risk swap deal ( with Mido ) as he is pacy left footed winger, and that's could be cheap option and he could be useful for us. He could be a lot better with our team. But the problem now : Celta Vigo relegated from First Division and Mido won't leave for them. so, it's not good to pay a lot money for him as he isn't No.1 target.

I think you're on to something...

Nene is a river
rivers are water
boats go on water
neil SHIPperly played for soutHAMpton
Bent wouldn't go to West HAM
Carlos Queeros links us straight to Ronaldo (or Richardson).

So forget about the Mido swap deal for now - someone will put up the £4million for him.

Nene looks like an out-and-out left winger who should cost...what, £6 million? Surely this is what we've been crying out for for years.

So, should we get him or not?

Trouble is I can't think of that many Left Wingers who really float my boat. Don't get me wrong - Malouda, Robben, R'dinho, Silva and Mancini are exciting but we've no chance with any of 'em. Apart from that it's the highly uninspiring Nene, the risky petrov and the mum's favourite Downing. I'd love them to find something else and not shoehorn a spursking recommendation into the position but I can't think of anyone both attainable and attractive who can actually do the job (so not Drenthe either). Does anyone have any plausible suggestions?

p.s. Shocked to see De Ridder go to Birmingham. Player. Far too good for them.

I think we should be looking to get two LW players in this summer, we will hopefully be playing 50+ games this season.

Nene is a solid player, poor mans downing - not really, about as good as downing, which means he's not a superstar by any means, however he should only cost a few £m and so as one of the 2 LW players i reckon he would be worth getting.

LW is really our only priority now this summer.
