The only guarenteed first teamers that are captain material whatever that means are (imo) Friedel, Vengthorn, Kaboul, Sandro, VDV and maybe Parker if he is first team.

My head says Parker, my heart says Rafa.

My funny bone says Captain Benny.

kaboul to kick him that little bit more. the responsibility and knowing he must act as one might bring him to another level. i would even suggest walker as captain for same reasons. apart from that parker but whose to say if avb fancies him. will parker be even fit for start of season, he's injured isnt he?

Ledl....ah shit :(

VDV for me

I was just returning to this thread to post VDV as my choice too, Sandro should be one of our two holding mudfielders and I hope Huddlestone plays the other with Parker sitting in reserve.

VdV - the sixty minute Captain - throws the band in to the blue skies to land where it might.

Parker Captain. Kaboul vice. Although it obviously depends on who we bring in and who AVB's first choice players will be. As it stands these two have the ability and the leadership to make them contenders.

Vdv... I don't see him being subbed every 60 minutes, think he will last longer than people think and he is a true leader in terms of what he gives. Is he vocally the right person in the dressing room? I couldn't say, but he is definitely a leader on the pitch.

Vice... Kaboul as well. Though Parker or even Bale wouldn't be bad shouts either. Defenders usually make good captains as they see a lot of what goes on as it is mostly played just in front of them but get more involved than say a GK.

Vertonghen? Only just joined, let him settle and get used to the pace and physicality of the EPL without the added pressure of captaincy, seriously...!!

Walker? Come on Kdspur, the lad's only just come through. A captain should be established, a person you look up to. If he has the credentials then i am sure the management team will see that in a season or two maybe blood him as vice captain, when the time comes.

Being a Captain is a great responsibility, it does things to your natural game in all sports. I have been captain of Tennis teams, Volleyball and football... all at low local levels for sure and more out of someone has to take responsibility for the crap... but you have to step up, make decisions, keep people in check, think all the time. It can be a distraction from simply playing a game.

It's more than just being a good player and someone who can shout a lot.

By the response yesterday every tottenham fan feels that Scott Parker should be our new captain RT

i am shocked by this. I am not even sure i see Parker starting every match

VDV, Vertonghen or Kaboul for me

Same. I think those wanting Dawson or Parker are from the old school thinking of football. Dawson will be at least 3rd choice in our CB lineup this season and Parker? Well if Moutinho was to replace Modric I think we'd see a midfield 3 of Sigurdsson and Moutinho anchoring with Sandro.

Kaboul Sandro or Vertonghen would be sensible picks.

I think there was a list of the squad in USA and it had Dawson down as captain, which is a suprise to most as most will pick Kaboul and Vertonghen as starters

VDV, Parker, Kaboul,Dawson... only serious contenders

Sandro, Walker, Vertonghen all too early for that responsibility...

My instinct is the following, but i appreciate that i do not see how the squad interacts with each other on a daily basis.

Sandro is too young, verts doesn't warrant it yet.

VDV is too emotional/temperamental.

Daws i agree is not necessarily a starter.

Parker i'd be fine with. Brad even, if he starts.

Kaboul... from watching training this weekend at the Galaxy, this guy looked like a leader. he has a sense of gravitas. helped that he is almost taller than everyone.. but honestly, longterm, he looks like he'd fit the part.

i'd say Parker for now, and look to Kaboul to transition in. I think Kaboul needs to concentrate on making that CB spot his own, he's still got some development to do which he should concentrate on maybe? (i think all 3 CBs will be in a battle, i think we forget just how good dawson is!)
