You have to ask what the fuck has it got to do with the NEC of the Labour party.
This is classic Corbyn type socialist behaviour, fuck the really important stuff lets poke our fingers into everything that isn't our business, would they do this if Haringey council was Conservative? No because they have no control over a Conservative council but they are damn well going to exert control over Labour ones, it's all about central control, the central politbureau knows best and will be obeyed even at the expense of local democracy.
Wellcome to the future under a Corbyn/MacDonnell government.

I see you got the usual dislikes etc

Not aiming this at you in particular but can we keep the politics out of this thread though please. There’s plenty of left leaning politics threads in general chat for this to be discussed

Tbh why should landlease get part ownership? Let the council develop the land.
Selling off land and these private partnership deals are shortsighted and costing this country £billions.

Because the money will be coming from lendlease. They aren’t doing it for free.

The residents that voted pretty much unanimously for it? Still as you say, their opinion doesn't really count.

Edit: Davidmatsdorf, you can't disagree with me, the residents did vote almost unanimously for demolition, you can dislike that fact but not disagree with it.

Edit : Last words on the subject from me.

1. You'll struggle to find the word 'demolition' in any official HDV documentation or advertising blurb.

2. This (independent) document (pages 8-11) scopes the amount of actual resident involvement - it doesn't make great reading.

There's a blurb in here from the architects about stadium layout which may explain why it's not a smooth bowl.

http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/six-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-new-tottenham-stadium

"“If there was any great fear from us it was not to create a generic stadium. We all wanted to create something that had personality, its own identity, its own nuances. We spent a lot of time thinking about the stadiums we all loved and why we loved them, what makes White Hart Lane special. Proximity to the pitch is incredibly important for that, noise is incredibly important, but also having an identity about where you sit. I think if modern stadiums, or some modern stadiums have a justified criticism is that you end up with this extruded seating bowl, and once you’re in there you never know where you are – whether you’re in the north, the south, the east or the west. Do you have an identity? Are there a bunch of people around you who come week in week out? So to create a bowl with atmosphere and personality was important.”"

Ok so where do the people getting moved out go?

If they are council tenants, they get a tenancy on their former terms, at a comparable rent, elsewhere. Questions such as exactly where and how many refusals they get tend to be contentious and negotiable.

If they are leaseholders, they can be compulsorily bought out at a market value set by the District Valuer. It won't surprise anyone that the values set in that manner are usually highly controversial.

The problem is there is a shortage of council properties for them to go to. Hence over 100,000 children homless in this country.

From the Goods Yard Planning Application submitted by the club last week it says that allowing for the Affordable Housing provision in the Goods Yard scheme it would leave 43 households requiring rehousing from the Love Lane Estate.

The 500 White Hart Lane scheme will provide a further 29 Affordable Housing units.

Affordable housing and council housing are very different things and very different costs to rent.

That depends on what rent is charged. There isn't much point in the Goods Yard site being offered for relocating Love Lane tennants if it wasn't in line with the commitments already offered by Haringey.

Taken from my above link.

"4.15 Taking this into account, the proposals could accommodate a significant proportion of the remaining Love Lane tenants, which if fully accommodated within this scheme, would leave only 43 households to be rehoused across the remainder of High Road West. As a result, the proposals can provide a substantial contribution to meeting this regeneration objective."

I agree that the area needs regeneration and to a certain extent gentrification.
Just think this does nothing to help the housing crisis we are in.

Of course there are bigger issues at play, but from a selfish football perspective we definitely have to hope the station part gets seen through. It's not going to help sell the club/stadium to extra punters (particularly the big money serious corporate, and also NFL) if you get off the train and then, with all due respect, walk through a ramshackle, possibly slightly dodgy, estate - particularly at night and remember the club have been making a big deal about wanting fans to use the stadium for longer on a match day. Some of the update pics/vids now from that vicinity where you see the stadium peering out over the top of some tatty, rundown terrace block are not a good first look at it, in my opinion.

I think the needs of your first sentence massively outweigh the housing crisis. There is simply no way that the area can be left neglected any longer. This opportunity to improve it simply can't be missed.

It's easy for me to say now though that none of my family no longer live there.

Doesn't all this seem a little communist? The party is apparently more important than the locally elected officials who are doing what they believe is in the best interests of their constituents.

The problem is that Dianne Abbot has said that there are 65 quintrillion houses being built of which only a few hundred will be available as Affordable housing.

doesn't look like the roof is going up in Jan after-all
Was meant to be January/early February start and take 12 weeks so I’m guessing when work does start it’s not going to be too obvious that they’re off and running.
