Thinking about it the B&H corner pin and the place in between(is it still a bookies?) is a rare space for development right alongside the NPD and the new flats so maybe something new is on the cards there.
I suspect that's how it works, a big investment project then ribbon development radiating out in all directions.

We own the corner pin lilbaz so maybe we've got that whole corner now, it wouldn't surprise me.

a little bit from edmonton on coys, this is relation to this posted by billy white:
We are very much so behind on a new shirt sponsorship deal. DL had been trying to acquire a combined shirt sponsor and naming rights (new stadium) sponsor for the next three years for a long time, but has had no luck in doing so. We are now scrambling to try and get ahold of something this week.
(to which potl btw replied that the info was bang on the money)

then someone asked: not sure i understand whats going on, were they expecting to get stadium naming rights before they even started building? surely there was a finance plan sorted before we announced the new stadium? if lewis and levy are not up to it maybe they should look to sell.

and ed replied: Part of it was to give naming rights to the training ground which does exist and is very impressive.
There has always been a funding gap but at the start I think Levy considered it a risk worth taking. Then he had all the additional costs of English Heritage etc, got blown out on a grant that would have covered a lot of the costs, then the distraction of "winning" Stratford and losing it, then the Council. The latter is important because the assumption at the start was they would want to rush to regenerate the area, do the station, etc but the battles have taken the momentum out of the project and the lack of progress on regeneration is making sponsorship hard to find. There have been mistakes but Levy has generally done well against the odds.

ok i think thats all

This is an idiotic [arrogant, ignorant] comment and edmonton's reply is excessively polite, plus rather unfocused and not really to the point.

Of course they want [perhaps "need"] to get naming rights sorted out before they start building. The naming rights money is surely an essential, very substantial part of the capital funding for the whole NDP. Even if it is not going to be used as up-front cashflow for the building process, the naming rights money represents a series of major annual injections of cash over the ensuing XX years, which can be taken into account when we refinance the development as it approaches completion.

Of course there wasn't a "finance plan sorted before we announced the new stadium". What does "announced" mean in this context? Applying for planning consent? Releasing the original NDP brochure several years ago? There's been no "announcement" of any formal nature since then (presumably because they are still trying to finalise the finance), so the comment is either nonsense because there is no announcement to refer to, or it is nonsense because you cannot possibly have a "finance plan" before you have detailed planning consent. No one will secure a loan on a development site that does not yet have planning consent, as I know from personal as well as professional experience: I had to get planning consent to build my house before anyone would give me a mortgage and any developer knows that you cannot finalise your development funding until you have planning consent, especially in the harsh lending climate of the past 5 years.

So the final sentence is basically a direct translation of "I am a total fuckwit, but I don't know it, so I'm going to make an arrogant statement based on my demonstrable ignorance and stupidity".

That's what edmonton should have said ;).

Quality post, David. The reason I'm responding & have made that bold line in your response, is you know full well that anyone who loves to regularly bash Levy will simply come on and say, "Yeah, there's been no announcement, well not since ENIC took over and said that increasing capacity/building a stadium was their priority, yet here we are, 12 years later", etc etc etc...

It's like a natural muscle response for them

I'm 1300 on the list, been on it for 7 years. I 100% want a season ticket.

I think we will have little trouble filling the ground. Especially for the first few seasons.

If it impacts the playing side and we drop back to mid-90s level, which is unlikely, then I could see attendances dropping off.

Good post David.

Perhaps I can add my tuppenyworth on the naming rights deal to expand what you have said. Spurs are (against other big companies) not a big company - by which I mean the Net Assets in the balance sheet are about £80m - so raising finance to do a £450m project is extremely difficult, particularly since a big bit of the financing will be some sort of debt funding.

IMO the purpose of the naming rights deal, which will be backed by a huge company whether Quatari Airways, Barclays Bank or whoever gives the lenders an assurance that Spurs will be in receipt of a guaranteed large £m stream of income for x years (in fact the lenders will probably legally tie up the naming rights deal income so it goes to them to as a guaratee of debt repaymeny). With a guaratee of money from a bigger balance sheet than Spurs, the debt finance will be (a) a lot easier to raise and (b) the interest rate charged wil be less than it would be without a naming rights deal.
