Is anyone else a bit disappointed there isn't more information in there about the actual stadium itself?

I know it's only a consultation paper but surely they've got a bit more of an idea of how it may look. I suppose I was hoping that after all this time they were a bit further on in their plans.

I agree with what MattyP says though. If people don't like it then actually say something to the club rather than just posting 'it's too much like the Emirates' on here.

They've given us a forum to communicate...so it's probably a good idea to use it.

But they haven't designed the stadium yet have they. I'm pretty sure we haven't even got planning permission yet. After these consultations they will design the stadium finally and get permission. Then start building.

It will be a bowl though, there was an interview with Levy on COYS and he basically said that due to health and safety laws, new stadiums have to meet new regulations, which mean seats have to be bigger, and more space between them IIRC. This plays better for a bowl than a square stadium. He also argued that the atmosphere is made by the fans. The Emirates is rubbish because Arsenal fans are....

I haven't read all the document, but I think this is the first of two consultation exercises, so I hope they will listen to the views of the fans, based on a rough and ready sketch, with not much detail being done at this stage, then for the second consultation exercise give more details, including renders of the stadium, outside, inside, the full redevelopment etc.

From the "bird's eye" sketches, it does look like a bowl, which is not ideal.

But here's the deal - the club have put it out as a consultation paper. In other words, those that want to have a say get the opportunity of putting their views across.

Either go to the website, sign up wherever you need to sign up and put your views across, or pay a visit over the next week and put your views across.

If you can't be bothered to do that, when the club have gone to the trouble of requesting it, and instead prefer to moan on here, then don't be surprised if your views are not listened to.[/quote]

exactly, you dont want to see all our hard work binned do ya

There are models prepared of several designs- but - the development site initially has to take priority over the design, hence this public consultation, it is really important that all of us submit our comments, critisisms, ideas, suggestions, they will ALL be looked at, if there is something you notice that dont sit right, flags a warning to you, inform the club, they want your views, remember the architects, landscapers etc are not all spurs fans, so dont have a clue what we really want - here's your chance to tell them.

In time when all the conultation have taken plave, their will be another open session to view the next stage plans with the models of the stadium.

And take planning permission as a given. This means so much to the regeneration of the whole area that Haringey will rubber-stamp whatever we propose—and if Archway Sheet Metal (Gooner-owned, I believe) cut up the council will oblige with a CP order, as Islington did for the Death Star.

BTW, nic, I believe it was me that first hinted at a Sainsbury's link back in December.

Cheers Robofan. I suppose I'm just being impatient as I think it's massively important that we get a new stadium as soon as possible.

It must be a bloody long task to get through though and I don't know when exactly they are aiming to get it all done by. It would be nice if we had designs for the stadium sorted by the end of this season.

Incidentally another reason it's important for us to express our views on the stadium is that there will be some dullards who oppose a new stadium in the area so they need to see that the Spurs fans are 100% behind it.

I'm still confused about the transport issue. I really don't think that the current infrastructure could deal with 60,000 people a week and I'd be surprised if we get the go ahead without something else being suggested on the transport side of things.

it was you sir, and planning permission will not present a problem in any way shape or form as you say.

i'm not 100% but i think there will be a presentation of the transport side of things, but it could be kept for the next set of previews - but it dont stop anyone asking the questions or commenting.

If it wasn't going to take me four hours to get from Deptford to Fulham on Saturday I'd have dropped in before the game.

As it is I'll just have to peruse the plans properly tomorrow and make my comments based on them.

Hope it all goes well though Robofan. Bean juice and all.

I reckon the fact that they've shown a bowl shape makes it even more unlikely that it will be a bowl shape.

That is an off the scent putter that is, and the public space would benefit more from a straight or square effect, the bowl intrudes too much.

Rectangular stadium here we come :)

Well, the Advertiser had some Nimby types muttering about listed buildings, but as far as I can fathom the only ones that will be affected are Warmington House and Marsh House, the two dilapidated and highly undistinguished Regency/early Victorian houses next to the shop, and the old Tottenham and Edmonton Dispensary—none of them architectural gems which will be much missed. If they mean that whole scaggy parade between Bill Nicholson Way and Paxton, they've got to be kidding.

I'm assuming the genuinely classy and historic buildings between Paxton and Northumberland will not be affected.

I still fancy something based on Beaumaris Castle in blue-and-white marble, with fuck-off laser arrays on the corner towers.

got an extensive list of snipers that would fit right in there under the lasers

This is undoubtedly the ultimate "concentric" castle, built with an almost geometric symmetry. Conceived as an integral whole, a high inner ring of defenses is surrounded by a lower outer circuit of walls, combining an almost unprecedented level of strength and firepower.

Would be really interested to know how much the acoustics are considered when designing the stadium. I know that certain opera houses for example have walls angled in certain ways and use of particular materials to improve the acoustics of the room and improve the sound transmission. I wonder if something similar could be done on a stadium to maximise the sound levels and transmit them all inwards. So even if we have only 60,000 people it would sound like 120,000 people.

It would seem pretty important as a fan to maximise the sound and the atmosphere inside the stadium, where as for structural engineers, architects etc. it may be more about getting the most seats in, while meeting all of the safety requirements and giving a good view to every seat (which of course are all necessary as well).

That would be truly wonderful I would die a happy man:grin:

By the way It's interesting that the ground is slap bang in the centre right across Paxton rd, that works with keeping the listed building towards Northumberland park.
