The trouble is it's not really the clubs fault if they haven't got an update. Surely they're waiting for those working on the stadium to update them. If they were told to expect an update in 2-3 weeks then of course that's what they're going to pass on to the fans. If it takes longer than that then it's just more delays from the team working on it. The club is essentially just a messenger who can only tell us what they've been told. I'm sure Levy is there regularly chasing them up which is about as much as he can do. It's really the team working on the stadium that is frustrating me. I'm not sure if they're just not working hard enough (too busy on twitter) or under too much pressure to deliver unlikely deadlines. Either way the project that Mace are behind is running way behind schedule. I'm sure Daniel Levy is as upset as anyone.
The delays are not their fault. But the communication shambles is entirely their fault. They were so shook by the initial delays that they've gone into a kind of defensiveness, where less information is best. It's just infuriating everyone.

So this latest announcement leaves us with 5 potential games at the new stadium, none of which are against another of the "big six" teams. 2 category C games in Brighton and Huddersfield, 2 category B games in Palace and Everton & the most questionable category A game, West Ham.

The thing about the delays and refunds that particularly galls me is the club refunding 1/19th, regardless of the stature of game. I'll be honest, when I bought my season ticket, I didn't excitedly look at the fixture list to see when we'd face Huddersfield, I was looking for Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool and City. The fixtures are not all created equal, which they are happy to recognise when it comes to charging for individual tickets.

Assuming Palace is made the first game in the new stadium, and despite the fact that these remaining fixtures don't even contain a single "big match" against a top 6 competitor, I highly doubt the club are going to be refunding the difference between 1/19 of a season ticket and the appropriate category cost of the individual ticket. Paying £51 (1/19th of my season ticket cost) a game for those remaining 5 fixtures is a piss-take if you ask me.

They wouldn't refund a ticket at the new stadium. They don't have to.

If you want to go to the big games but not the smaller one's then refunding 1/19th is surely better for you?

This. They could have at least given us information on the smoke tests, progress on the exterior work (or God forbid even the interior work) and what is actually needed before test events etc can be announced. It felt massively like a token gesture to me that took all of 5 mins to put together.

They just gave you an update on the tests.

Really?

Is this not information? We can today report that remedial works on the safety systems in the new stadium are near completion and we shall then move forward to the final stages of testing the fire detection and alarm system and its integration with the other safety systems.

Also the fact they have only moved the arsenal game means, to me at least, they're looking at the palace game as the first game (Even if it doesn't happen because of the FA cup, it be done, ready). They normally delay several games. It is clear they're working to a timetable and serious about opening for that potential fixture.

Are we not better waiting till the new season? It'll be a complete damp squib having our first game there this season now, surely we are better off focusing on momentum for the beginning of next season.....

Maybe I haven't explained this very well. The point i'm trying to make is that the club have been refunding 1/19th per game so far, basically saying that all games are of equal value. The NLD against Arsenal is worth just as much as Huddersfield at home. As fans, we know this isn't the case.

My season ticket cost £975 this year. If spurs had offered to sell me the same season ticket, minus the games against the other top six teams, for £719 (1/19th off for each one), there's no way I would have bought it. For the final five games left to be of equivalent value to the overall season ticket, at least one of the fixtures would had to have been against a top 6 rival.

Basically, i'm saying that i'd pay a lot more money to watch Spurs against a top 6 team (for obvious reasons) than I would to watch Spurs against a team lower down the league, yet the season ticket refund system has equated them as the same. It's not right IMO that fans will therefore (assuming the palace game is the first in the new stadium) be charged more per game for their season tickets than the equivalent individual category price.

Agree - hold off now until August, but maybe have big pre-season game against Barca, Real or someone of similar stature.

Swings and round abouts. If you couldn't make games against the bottom 6 but got a 1/19th refund then you are getting a better deal. At the end of the day it is as fair as it was going to be.

Come off it mate, it's so much more vague. It's basically the same update other than the remedial works are "near completion" but it's even less commital than the last one that promised an update in 2-3 weeks. Now it's just "due course". It feels like it was a token gesture purely because they missed the last update deadline they set themselves, with no new information.
Maybe they are just putting something out to let people know for certain that we are playing Arsenal at Wembley. Thus enabling fans to make the necessary arrangements.
As for the stadium info perhaps they haven't anything else they can say atm, as that's all they know for certain. God forbid they put something out that doesn't happen that will upset you even more.

Afraid patience is no longer a part of some human's capability:(

Considering those 5 games could be a key part of any title challenge that may or may not materialise, I would argue it is very important we get to the stadium ASAP. Our last season at WHL we had the best home record in the league, this season we have been shite at Wembley where we have absolutely no affiliation and diminishing attendance. A proper atmosphere for those 5 games could make all the difference

Would be of absolutely no benefit playing any gam e on the new stadium this season, club should just announce that we will move in the summer.

This drip feeding if information is painful, we all know it won't be happening this season.

they've effectively taken a loan off every single season ticket holder and are repaying it in installments. its shoddy at best.

No benefit?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

What benefit would there be to play at Wembley then?

New stadium, new environment, potential for absolute disaster of a run-in...
At least the players are familiar with everything about Wembley.

What about the cat c games that were refunded? Surely you would get more for a cat c and less for a cat a? You would have to work out exactly what each cat game cost against the refund to know if you've lost out. I think the way they've done it is the least complicated and fair way of doing it.

Yes, they familiar in hating playing there, as Rose said. There's not doubt that the squad will get a massive psychological lift from going home.

I dont get this whole familiar stuff. It's a football stadium not a rocket ship. Our opponents will be new there too but we'll be the ones with the fans behind us (much more so than at Wembley). I can't see anything but a massive lift for the players when we move in.
