This was our team that went up there:

TOTTENHAM: Cudicini, Hutton, Dawson, Gallas, Bale (Bassong 11),Lennon, Modric, Jenas (Crouch 71), Pienaar (Kranjcar 83),Van der Vaart, Defoe.
Subs Not Used: Pletikosa, Kaboul, Corluka, Sandro.

Probably in a 4 4 2, with VDV off Defoe. Taking into account injuries then and now, our team this season is VASTLY better than that. Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King all better. BAE instead of Bale at LB. Lennon and Modric, probably the same. Parker instead of Jenas. Sandro instead of Pienaar. Ade instead of Defoe. VDV the same.

Don't raelly know why I made this thread, but its fun to see how much our team has changed in the last few months.

I was looking at the BBC report of the game last season this morning!

Think its an interesting thread and we are a much stronger outfit this time around even if one or two don't make it.

They're stronger too, we need to be at our best. It's a shame we can't play Arsenal every week.

Agreed - Tiote and Cabaye in the centre is a nice combination and they are actually a very balanced side throughout, not to mention one which has no injury concerns.

St. James Park has been a bogey ground for many a year and if we think it will be a walk in the park, even with a full strength side then we will be very much mistaken.

Yep, I wouldn't take a draw but I won't be complaining if it's a close game and we have to scrap for the win. 1-0 will do nicely.

Think the major difference will be a modfield of Sandro and Parker, we wont spend the game in our own half this time.

I was up there last year and left 5 minutes from time to get beers for the journey home as the way we were playing we could've played until the following saturday and not scored....little did i know.

The team is so much better however Newcastles are also performing better so expect another close game.

Last years fixture was an unbelievable bore-fest, I can see this being a lot different. I think we'll have to be very wary of Ba and Best up top for them, as they can both cause a lot of damage. In fact, their spine of Best/Ba, Cabaye + Tiote and Coloccini + Taylor has been very impressive so far this season. They haven't faced a real test yet though, so this Sunday may prove pivotal for their season.

A draw away from home up there wouldn't be a disaster.
They are on a roll and are certainly an improved team
but haven't really been tested yet.
We are on the back of an NLD win and four consecutive victories
and certainly stronger than last year especially if Adebayor plays.

So taking it all round 1-1 it is.

Don't see us winning if Ade isn't fit, but don't see them scoring a hatful against our D plus Sandro and Parker in front. 1-1

As others have said, they are a better, more compact, team...and we may be without Adebayor.

But on paper, we are better than last year, and we should certainly be confident of getting a result.

No, they are just not defo in

Cheers, SP. I know they've got better, but there's just no comparison between the lineup we fielded last year and our potential one this year. Scarily better. But I'm still afraid to hope too much.
