I don’t think Bissouma, Son or Romero have the temperament to be captain either. They are all capable of petulant moments.

There’s no obvious choice. I think Maddison probably gets it by default.

I think captaincy would elevate Maddison as well, think he’d relish the responsibility. It might weigh heavier on other players.

He probably should. Because picking a player a large portion of the fan base loathe as captain would likely be counterproductive for a number of reasons.

We really can’t say can’t we? Last season no one would’ve said Bissouma, but with a few nice outings (I think he’s superb) and some good videos lots of us are prepered to give him the armband.

If you’re not in the room it’s really hard to know who’s the best fit. Who’s comfortable with media? Who leads by example, who’s vocal? What does Ange look for in his captain? Or are we searching a club-captain, more of an ambassador? Then it might as well be Davies, right?

We will just have to trust Ange and the room to make the best decision. The leaders will lead anyway and I don’t know how he’s done it before, longest period at the club, most games, player’s choice, his choice? Many routes you can go.

We can also imagine it will take time to create the new environment where everyone is comfortable and know their role as there will be a new hierarchy in the dressing room with our leaders for the last years moving or getting lesser roles in Hugo, Dier, Davies, Højbjerg and Kane.

My guess though: Son (c), Dier, Davies (vice).

As it'll be 'sorted tomorrow' I'd put good money on it being Son or Maddison given Bentacur is still injured, Bissouma outside shot.

For now i would give it to Son. He is the one that needs to take on the responsibility foward in the short term, then I wil make a for somewhat surprising candidate in 1-3 years time I think Kulu could be a leading player in the team. He has a true winning mentality and was cap all years as a youth player in Atalanta.

After watching the press conference i'd be inclined to think we might see a bit of a curve ball in Bissouma or Maddison - but then i also think the manger is pretty cute with the press so it'll be the bleeding obvious selection in Sonny !

Not always a bad thing tbh, football is different now its not all about one big loud shouty leader like Roy Keane, Vieria, John Terry etc, you've got guys like Odegaard and Reece James now being made captains.

Has to be a nailed on starter and somebody who's right in the thick of it. If Bentancur was fit I think he'd be good. In his absence I'd go with Bissouma.
