If there's any issues with getting Naglesmann or Slot, perhaps we should be looking at getting a slightly older head like Ange with Mason as his number two?

Unless anyone thinks Naglesmann or Slot would accept Mason as their number two?

I know it's a bit forward thinking for Spurs but Mason could learn so much as an Assistant Manager (hate to say it but like Arteta did) and then potentially be ready to step up the next time the job comes up and I would imagine keep him happy with some clear career progression and a step on the path to taking over in the near future.

What difference does it make waiting a few weeks so we get the DOF that possibly aligns to the manager? I’m pretty convinced everything is already lined up and will be announced after the season completes.
From a DoF pov, analysing the squad, making a start on signings and sales and scouting etc...

Popped in here for the first time in a while. Sigh, our expectations are so low. No pressure for success from the owners, and very little from supporters either.

we think the manager job should go to someone with zero experience?

Mason needs to go and prove himself somewhere first. Can’t believe it’s even up for debate.
I think the sentiment is that he is doing good as a stop gap but most want a nagelsmann or slott.

Who said it should go to Mason? I have only seen people say they understood if it went to him and we wouldn't be totally against it.

Bloody Hell. Mason (as much as I kind of like him) would be perceived by the vast majority as a Levy puppet choice. I want a Coach/Manager who has has new ideas and concepts, and whilst be prepared to work with the overall set up, also be prepared to fight their own corner. I’m just worried Ryan has not got the experience in order to do that yet.

In addition, if things did go wrong for a while, would the fans take it out on Levy even more quickly.

If Levy gets abuse in the stadium now, it is nothing compared to what it would be like if he appointed Mason.

What player of note would want to come and sign for us then.

I doubt even Harry Kane wants Mason to get the job. He wants to work at the elite level and that means an elite manager with elite pulling power.

Mason has done well to steady the ship. The issue is that if we appoint him then it's a Levy choice which is not what we want. We need Mann to pick out a DOF and a manager who align with 1 plan. I just can't think of any DOF who is picking Mason given he's only managed a few games. So from the get go there would be an issue having a manager the DOF doesn't fully support. They are going to pick someone with history in first team management, preferably someone they know.

The fans take everything out on Levy already..

How do you know Mason doesn't have new concepts and ideas himself? It's a bit harsh to outright dismiss that when you haven't seen him behind the scenes. He might just be tinkering with the Conte style to finish the season, but he could come into the summer with his own philosophy. Which probably lines up more with what we as Spurs fans look for in our club.

Because the last two elite managers worked so well didn't they! Having grown up through the club together I bet you Kane wouldn't mind Mason being in charge. They'd probably get together and laugh at how far both came. One as the record goalscorer, and the other the manager.

*BEFORE ANYONE JUMPS ON ME FOR DEFENDING MASON THIS IS NOT ME WANTING HIM AS OUR MANAGER. MERELY STATING THAT HE MAY SURPRISE PEOPLE AND NOBODY KNOWS HOW HE WOULD FARE UNTIL HE IS GIVEN THE CHANCE IN THE JOB. IF HE IS GIVEN THE CHANCE*

Every choice will be a Levy choice.

Not sure about 'concepts', I just want energy, verve, flair and fun. No one earnest, fragile, or with little emotional intelligence.

Yeah it's a ludicrous idea. A couple of defeats on the bounce and all we'll hear is "he's out of his depth" "Fucking Levy taking the cheap option" "Ryan Mate-son" etc... etc...

It's a romantic idea that one of our own can take the reigns and lead us to glory after having his career tragically cut short at such a young age, and one i'm drawn to. But in reality he needs to go out and get some real experience at the coal face, of how to deal with the pressures and all sorts of different aspects of the job before we hand him the keys. I hope it does happen at some point though.

I don't think the chairman can afford to appoint Mason. He has got so much stick and the only reason we don't see more is apathy. As others have said if it doesn't start well the crowd could turn very very quickly as will the media.

Saying that I think Ryan is hugely impressive. He speaks so so well, clearly is really tactically astute and the players like him. I have this hunch which is random that Southampton would be the perfect fit for him.
