Agree matey. I think that was the beauty with Poch and Jol for me is that they did not think that they were above us, unlike the last two managers we had.
Now I know how my misses feels when everyone tells her she’s “punching”.

How many times, they know what they’re doing. Simon ****face Jordan explained they need to sell 3 homegrown players at the most to bring in the £140m they need to sort it. Mount, Gallagher and Loftus Cheek alone would raise that. Chuck in Chelaboh and more and it’s solved easily.
Not a chance. Mount and RLC only have 1 year left on their contract and Gallagher only has 2 years. Mount will have his suitors but RLC they will be lucky to get 20m for. The teams in for Gallagher wont be spending more than 30m for him either IMO.

Arne Slot - worth keeping an eye on his colleagues at Feyernoord ?
technical director at Feyernoord is a guy called Dennis te Kloese. Been in Mexico / MLS. Any1 heard of him ?

His assistant is John de Wolf. I hated him when we played them in 1992.

Or the guy before te Kloese that hired Slot...Frank something...

Te Kloese is bad news. Part of the reason the LA Galaxy have flopped over the past decade

They might spend that much if Fab is the dof of said club 😂. Ahem.

Re: Potter and Rodgers - doesn’t scream ambition to hire managers who were just sacked from clubs that are beneath you in the table.

Nagelsmann is class, but he knows that and will have a chip. I’m also ready for a manager that is passionate about the club and doesn’t feel like he’s doing us a favor.

No manager this decade has loved Spurs like Poch did, and he took us to our greatest heights. I’m hoping we give him a second go at making this club great, if he’s willing.

Until a couple of days ago I hadn't heard of Arne Slot. Am I missing something but is he not quite inexperienced....? Can anyone help me with something that would get me just a little excited about him as our manager?

Read through the thread. Some posters have spent their time with some really good analysis.

We’ve had a few weeks of hearing posters who want a project manager who plays attacking football and that we’re willing to be patient for that.

We are now getting posts calling potter a failure for not playing winning football despite having a squad of 30+ players and only having been at the club for a few months.

Those two opinions are not compatible.
To be fair there is an in between - 28 points (and 21 goals) in 22 games at a club like Chelsea isn't just 'not playing winning football'. It's unacceptable.

With Nagelsmann now seemingly heading to Chelsea, I'm all in on the Slot train.

Dimarzio saying that again Naglesmann won't join anyone now and will need to be convinced of a project.

Considering the mess they have been since Boehly got there I wouldn't say it's a full gone conclusion by any means.

As much as I'd like to claim its only about money, the dragging eyeballs across sandpaper feeling working under our off-field structure makes me doubt that's the only reason
Well, that and the recent CL and EPL title wins, I guess.

This story in the press of us apparently telling Poch we’re not going to offer him the job - I can’t help but wonder if that’s spin. I mean, it could be true and I could certainly see us doing that out of courtesy, but still. These last few seasons have made me so much more cynical about our inner workings.

On the upside, I do like that Slot (in Afrikaans, so I assume in Dutch as well) translates to a “lock” or the “conclusion” of something - like the final episode in a series. Hopefully he can be the key to finally unlock the full potential of this squad, our facilities and our stadium, in combination.

People keep saying Slot is inexperienced but he's

1. Got to a European cup final
2. Had AZ joint top in his first season but the title was given to Ajax.
3. About to win Eredivisie.
4. Worked with Arnesen.
5. In a domestic cup semi which they have a great chance of winning.
6. Got Feyenoord into the quarters of EL beating Shakhtar 7-1 on the way.

Worth noting Tottenham never went past the quarters of the modern EL and he has done it first time and got to a final of another.

If they beat Roma then that is a huge hurdle as it shows he's adpated from last year.

All this with a team which really shouldn't be doing this much.

All that from just a few years of management is seriously impressive.

If he had been at Ajax the entire time, then you would be right to question it.

But he's far ahead of where he should really be in this stage of his career.
