Levy: So how about sparking new life into a Winksy and Tanguy midfield?

Nagelsmann:

On Nags I hear the hold up/delay is Nags wanting contractual assurances on Transfer budget and wages, maybe why so much other noise

Have heard same, but not as a hold up to a final agreement - as a response to our initial inquiry to gauge interest.

JN asking for guarantees is giving me, I'm bigger than the club vibes.

Although I am on the JN train, I am open to alternatives who are more flexible and will give their all whatever the circumstances.
it gives me the vibes that he is a sane man who wants to maximize the chance for mutual success

Maybe people are only hearing about other names now. Maybe their names were in the ring from the beginning but kept close for whatever reason. Maybe everyone is pissing their pants because we don't have all the info right from the beginning and it looks worse when it drips out..

Actually all along I have been quite alright if Levy stays but leave out the footballing matters totally to Munn and the future Of and manager.

But yet he doesn't seem to learn at all from the past. Then please fucking get lost and out of the club by any means. Your legacy is done, don't piss on it. Bring Dier, Moura and Lloris together as well. All these guys have over stayed and tainted their histories.

I don't see how any half intelligent manager would sign with us unless written policies are put in place that dictate how much control they have over transfers and transfer budget. Mourinho and Conte were not bad managers but the fallout from when their time was up with us would show any semi-intelligent manager to have things in writing with Levy as he is not trustworthy. If Levy says you have £XM to spend + sales and £XM in additional wages to allocate and £XM in amortization of players (cost divided by contract length) then if the manager agrees and it is put in writing then it satisfies cashflow, accounting and all associated parties. Levy's lack of transparency is not a secret anymore and potential manager hires know this, there needs to be a compromise somewhere and when I type somewhere, I mean with Levy specifically.

Maybe this is the plan. Leak that Nagelsmann wants assurances that stalls the deal. Then get him in and make it seem as though Levy has gone out his way to back his man. Super Levy to the rescue, Levy in!

OK there's a split over the relevance of Levy in this thread and does it belong in here............perhaps both sides of the argument has merit.

BUT

We've had a few pages of it now and at some point there has to be a separation so we can get back on track. So now let's keep this about the next manager please, the Levy stuff is well catered for elsewhere.

Thanks

I don't think anyone would think it's better for Levy to lie to him. That would indeed be utterly self-deafeating.

What people want is for Levy to change his approach to the football side. Let's be real, Nagelsmann is unlikely to be demanding more than Conte did. And even if he is, so what: if he's the number one choice then make it work.
Surely we are meant to be building a robust system in order to maintain standards and quality control? This includes the DOF and Munn. It would be self defeating to bow to the next flavour of the month (whoever that may be) and break the agreed direction. If Nagelsmann can’t work within the parameters of the system then it’s bye. If we have departments who deal with wages etc then that’s their job surely?

This isn’t aimed at you per se but at the various posts on the same subject.

No absolutely not. I think the point is why are new names being thrown into the ring now though after 4 months of knowing Conte was gone come the Summer? We had a short list, that is now a long list. If it's because there is a DOF now lined up that we don't know about I would understand it. Fact is though it's just far too reminiscent of 2 years ago for my liking. It's almost a carbon copy of what happened prior to Nuno which is why those that get bits of info are all up in arms. There is literally nothing positive being passed on right now.
It’s also bonkers that we knew our DoF might receive a global ban and yet had no one lined up

amazing they didn’t immediately identify and hire a candidate to lead this manager search

such a shambles

I'm not one of those two posters, but I did absolutely have a bit of a moan about Levy a few pages ago (in the managerial context), so I'm sorry about that. Will stick to manager talk now in this thread.

Circumstances also change and right now there is no clear obvious best choice. Even Naglesman isn’t perfect and could cost a lot to buy out his contract so makes sense to look at different emerging options, as long as the one we go for is from the list of 7-8 mentioned then we should be in a better place moving forwards so some of this doom and gloom is a tad OTT.

If we end up with a 4th defensive bad fit manager I’ll eat my words but so far the 7-8 names mentioned I think most on here would be pretty happy with any of them and all have pros and cons but would play decent football and all are more project type managers which we need.
