To me it’s obvious we had conversations and at some point along the way the visions didn’t align and Slot recommitted to Feyenoord. I keep hearing "lets wait until we appoint a DOF". If this continues to play out like 2021 then we'll have alienated every half decent coach worth looking at by the time a DOF is announced. Did anyone on here honestly believe that this time could be worse than post Conte?

I would have hated that, but if that what it took, I'd have sucked it up... Any signs of a plan and leadership is a plus from the next manager.... So as disappointed as I am (if true) Slot not coming... Is Levy actually seeing sense in Kane staying..... but that then leads me to believe that it will be Mason all along..... unless Levy pulls a Poch miracle out the bag.... F**k it's really hard staying interested in anything Spurs at the moment, Slot's potential arrival pulled me back in

Concerning thing about this is that it does raise the question of were we targeting Slot because we thought he was the best candidate or because we thought he would be a cheaper option whilst also ticking the young + attacking box. It's probably a bit of both but IF we really thought he was the man for the job why would we back out over 15 mil. It suggest we didn't want him that badly. Obviously that does depend on if this report is actually true and that was the reason it fell apart. It does feel like there is something more to. I did read a few reports yesterday saying Slot also had demands and, as with Nagelsmann, that seems to be a code word for talks breaking down.

TBH i would be surprised if Slot came now, it wouldn't reflect well on him if he made the statement he has then to go back on it shortly after by signing for us. He could quite as easily not said anything. I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign a new contract soon.
