With Slot out of the picture I think it's genuinely insane if we don't at least try for JN. I cannot fathom how Levy and Co aren't doing everything they can to get him in.

Like most top modern teams, Celtic look to hold majority of possession ~ averaging 74% possession in the Scottish Premiership. In comparison, Man City & Arsenal average around 60% in the Premier League.

In 2019, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester
City defeated Ange Postecoglou’s Yokohama F Marinos 3-1. After the game, Guardiola gave high praise to Postecoglou:

"𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘠𝘰𝘬𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺. 𝘉𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘠𝘰𝘬𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘬𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴. 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴."

Gallardo, Pochettino and Nagelsmann are literally out of work right now. How we're making such a fucking song and dance about this is absolutely beyond me.

Technically Nagelsmann is not out of work, geis still employed by Bayern, so we’d have to buy him out, and given how publicly desperate we are, they would absolutely rinse us.

There is no front runner for either role now. They have been knocked back by practically the majority for either role. Reasons are plain and obvious. Is there a panic? You know the answer to that one. They thought they had nailed it especially with Slot.

This is beyond ridiculous now. Fantastic training facilities. Arguably one of the best stadiums in the world, sells out every week 60k+ fans. World class talismanic striker. And we can’t get a DoF or Manager worth looking at to entertain joining us, because our chairman insists he knows more about football than any of them. This is a one way spiral that we will only bounce back from once Levy gives up his vice like grip. It’s throughly depressing to be a Spurs fan and is taking all the joy out of football for me. I keep coming back here only in the blind opportunistic hope that somehow we’ve convinced someone good to take the role by convincing them if they can turn us round they will be seen as above serial winners like Jose and Conte

Read it again, it's obvious, I mean like really obvious, they are gauging reactions to names THEY want to consider, they aren't asking who WE want.

But whatever, the salt needs to be in hand.

Meh, I couldn't give much of a fuck right now because I don't think it's gotten as bad as it could yet.

Well that is truly another level of depressing. We’re shit to watch. I’m watching us alienate any decent DoF and Manager that could potentially turn us around, seeing just managers offering more of the same drudgery left on the list to choose from. I’m getting hammered by my mates about what a shit show we are. And it’s going to get worse??

I truly am at the point where I’m not sure I want to support this club anymore. All the joy has gone, yet I still live in hope Levy will be so stung by the criticism that he’ll go cap in hand to Nagelsmann and do whatever it takes to get him onboard. If he comes, some of the DoF’s may be more willing. Alternatively, and a fair bit of enthusiasm step down, but a shot on an up and coming manager like Gallardo would at least make us interesting.
That’s all that can save us for me now. Not remotely sold on any of the other alternatives, can’t get even half way interested. Has to be Nagelsmann and whoever he wants as DoF, because he won’t lumber himself with someone useless.

I think the difference is we've seen De Zerbi in the league and he's got Brighton to finish above for the first time in how many years. Ange would be a massive risk, he'll be against some of the best managers in the world. I'll be shocked if we go for him considering the alternatives who were supposedly available.
I’m not on the Ange train here but a massive risk of what? What is at risk? Our beautiful proud football club being dragged through the mud? We’re there already. Wasting one of the best English talents we’ve seen? Yep, already checked off the list. Alienating our senior players? I don’t think I’ll cry myself to sleep if they all leave. Creating a negative culture that will set us back years?

Think you get my point.

So Herc is suggesting the club is using social media/message boards. So now we’ve got to establish who starts introducing new names as an idea. Coughs YaYa Toure 🤣

Ange was never my top choice or even in my top 5, but I really think the club should be looking at profile more than pedigree. If they want a coach who will bring back high energy, positive, aggressive, attacking football, then he checks all those boxes. Who knows if the transition will work, but I think I’d prefer the base philosophy to be a certainty than pedigree at this point. He also is a great character and despite being older, is still upcoming in the sense he’s rising up the ranks in football management.

With the sad reality the new guy will probably have strict parameters to work under, I’m also not sure someone with prestige would work. Jose and Conte were give false promises. It seems Nagelsmann and Slot both realized the lack of control they would have and the differing vision from the club pushed them away. I’m not buying any other reason they weren’t hired. I’d worry for Ange or any other “underwhelming” candidate because they’d immediately be under pressure to perform due to fan base toxicity and would really have to earn support, even though that shouldn’t be a case. If given a chance, I do think Ange could be successful. A big risk, bigger than Slot, but again, the play style fits what the club supposedly wants and to me, we kind of just have to throw experience out the window at this point. A bonus, but not a necessity and not priority.

This is different than Mason though because we don’t even know what Mason’s style is and giving him the job is not even a risk, for me it would be suicide. He needs to build a philosophy elsewhere. Any success with him would be pure luck.

Tbh I’m not sure why we aren’t looking at Ligue 1. Igor Tudor, Franck Haise, Fonseca. Would happily have any of those 3.

They just seem to be happy to deprioritise what is best for the club, and it's the only question that should matter. What is best for the club, the football club? But it's not the priority and never is. No ambition, no guts and certainly no glory.

If this group could actually put something other than themselves first for once, we might have a chance, but this is groundhog day all over again and will continue to be so for as long as the status quo remains.

I know there is nuance in all of this, but these are execs. The vision and ambition should be aligned, and it's just not even part of the discussion. I work with many C-suite execs, and that is what they are all about, big ideas, vision, mission purpose, all that high-level stuff, not this group. They really can't see the wood for the trees, and for me, it's a failure as a business group now let alone a footballing group. The damage to our brand is considerable and will take more than a few social posts to recover. If they actually want to sell the club at some point, all of this fuckwittery is going to impact that value further down the line.

Why is this relevant here, well the manager hunt mk2 is symbolic of their errors and incompetence, and we can see this being played out hourly. They have never put what is best for the club at the heart of this search, and we are now so far away from what is best to now, scrabbling around for who is stupid enough to believe that it won't be the biggest mistake of their careers.

My worry with appointing Postecoglou as manager under the existing structure (or a DOF in name only) is that it'll paint a facade of unity around the club and kick the can down the road in terms of getting DL out. Let's be honest, the best we'll ever do under Ange would be a CL spot until we hit the Levy ceiling.

Whereas, if Nagelsmann gets it we can be fairly sure he's had some sort of guarantees about control.

I almost want Levy to make a horrendous appointment now that will be a real tipping point for fan anger. Someone like Mason who might leave us in the bottom 3 after 10 or so games. I don't see a world in which Ange fails miserably, so it's perfect for Levy to try to calm the fans down and forget about past mistakes until he inevitably can't work under Levy's dogma anymore in a couple of years time.

Let's be honest, the fans wanted Gerrard in 2021 who also "worked wonders" at Celtic and then tanked at Villa. The fans wanted Potter who got his shot at the big time and blew it like a 2 bit whore, albeit in a clusterfuck almost as big as Spurs. Fans also turned their noses up at Howe who has been nothing short of excellent. Fans are clueless.

I would guess the club using socials to gauge the reaction is to avoid another Nuno scenario where the poor guy was on a hiding to nothing from day 1. No matter who it is, the fans need to be able to take to them enough to at least give the a chance and get behind them.

For that reason alone, Rodgers would be a disaster unless he hit the ground running, and I sense that Ange might be similar. A Nagelsmann or Slot would get given a real chance by fans and hopefully not be booed off the pitch the first game they get bossed in.

The board have really done themselves no favours at all. The odd mistake is human, 3 in a month (not even picking up the phone to Poch and letting him go to the enemy, the PR gaff with Nagelsmann, and now the failure to get Slot) is tantamount to gross negligence.

We'll be back here in 12-24 months because the club doesnt know what it wants to be. They are seemingly incapable of deciding on a vision and fully committing to it. I'm just so tired of lurching from one extreme to the other.

Yeah let's get this guy in. He's going to be shit. At least Nuno had some pedigree, this bloke hasn't achieved anything. Whittlesea Zebras, fuck me. Nothing in his career makes him look like he will be a good fit for a PL club. He's probably not even a Palace or West Ham level appointment.

Club using social media and their PR to test the waters with managers names. Vote against it. They are deliberately gauging fans reactions.,
Fans: We want Pochettino!
Levy: No, someone like Pochettino, but not Pochettino.
Fans: Pochettino?
Levy: No, guess again
Fans: Slot, then.
Levy: Oh do f**k off…

I think the problem will be that by adopting this Venn diagram approach to managerial recruitment, the club will eventually realise that candidates they want to recruit are in one circle in London N17, and candidates they are capable of recruiting are in the other circle, which is in the bottom drawer of a filing cabinet in the basement of an abandoned salt mine in Smolensk behind a door marked “Beware of the leopard”.

Current chances of overlap: 0%.
