Have we had genuine links to Marco silva.

he always comes across as a big moody or prickly. That’s how I have perceived him anyway.

I think its important to take a manager who outwardly has some credibility. Taking them after a hot period.

When picking coaches you need to think about the perception the players will have of them. People who are seen as a success will having an easier time to convincing them to follow their ideas.

Its not a hard and fast rule but my choice would be somebody who is perceived as a success at some level rather than someone who is coming off a bad job. Potter is still the same coach he was this time last year but the way hes viewed is different because of the Chelsea failure. Its not something that cannot be overcome but it is a consideration you have to take into account.

I think Potter is wise enough though to avoid risking his management career and have it in the hands of this mess of a club anyway.

I was very much up for Potter in summer 2021. Still think he’s a good coach who wants to play good modern football. Would not shock me to see him take Crystal Palace to 8th next season or similar.

But for a catalogue of reasons absolutely not for us this summer. We are a mess - he’s just failed at a mess. He’s not only failed but he’s seen his successor do an even better job than he was doing with his ex. He looked utterly broken at the end of his time at Chelsea.

We need a manager to bring positive tactical changes, to manage to squad to work within the system but we also really need positive vibes this summer. We need somebody who has personality that can get the players back to enjoying football and giving the fans something to dream on. Potter is not that guy right now and I think he would be a disaster of an appointment if we were to look to him.

It's anybody's guess how well some of the latest links would fare here, but after having had Poch waiting for the phone to ring for months, I'd say Levy has to come up with something way more appealing than Postegoglou, Potter, Marco Silva or Brendan Rodgers. As I said a while back, I think he needs to pull a Julian Nagelsmann shaped rabbit out of a hat (even though his unbelievably stupid PR gaff has made than extremely difficult now).

Munn, the Australian, is no doubt looking forward to the club funded beano to Australia to play a friendly in July. Which will be an ideal venue for Postecoglou the Australian to be unveiled as Daniel Levy's new victim. Our esteemed chairman is really looking forward to wearing one of those hats with the dangly corks all over it and has already been practising telling didgeridoo jokes in the club canteen which has led to a huge drop off in customers, the bloke just can't catch a break.
Lets hope then, like a crap boomerang, he don't come back........

That’s just it. To turn down Poch a good manager who fits us and is loved you need something better or more suitable long term. Naglesmann and Slot might have been that.

Now we look like we didn’t reemploy Poch due to some child like grudge Daniel or Donna had with him.

For a club that has a world class stadium we are run like clowns, we aren’t serious people. 90% of the fanbase would have been far better picking a manager and DoF and that is scary.

This thread is becoming very gloomy. We’re at the ‘beggars can’t be choosers’ stage. Just remember we are the Mighty Tottenham Hotspur, the worlds greatest football team. Just ignore reality, this is football. COYS!!

I would be happy with Potter. And to be honest, as long as it isn’t Rodger’s I’m not really that fussed who it is. The important part is that it’s someone that’s going to work with and for the club in a style that we want to watch. This is a long-term project not a short term gain.

Potters failure at Chelsea had little to do with him IMO.

Agree Potter laid the foundations for Brighton his problem was converting chances - the pay day alone for being sacked from the Chelsea managers job is too attractive to have turned down even if as some say he was the wrong fit, his family are sorted for life

I preferred JN, Slot, Kompany and RDZ to Poch, for different reasons, but if by some twist Poch walked in the door now I'd be delighted and relieved in equal measure

Someone like Potter would seem one of the best fits/safest choices left. Not even played the last game of the season and we're already down to this.

I heard he’s been telling everyone to stop addressing him as Mr. Levy, insisting they just call him Danno.

Just briefly, the Copa Libertadores is the South American equivalent of the Champions League, it is the biggest club comp in that part of the world and one that is mostly won by Brazilian teams. Him winning it twice was a massive achievement.

On a side note in relationship to rivalries. it’s worth looking into the famous rivalry between Boca and River and especially the infamous Libertadores final. It was rather extreme with buses being attacked, players injured by projectiles, games delayed and eventually moved to Spain. it was insane.

As for comparison between manager’s personally I think Gallardo is on a completely different level to Ange. I’ve written about him in great detail in this thread as he has been my top choice from the very start. TBH I’ve come to a point where I don’t even have the energy anymore, I’m so burnt out by all this I’ve lost all hope that we will end up with someone remotely decent. I know that’s utterly unhelpful and I apologise, im sure someone else will come along and explain it.

But in brief he really ticks every box and then some. From being an attacking project manager who has constantly had his teams cherry picked to being incredibly versatile and not relying on one formation. He puts a lot of focus on the mental aspect of the game and thinks players mind sets are just as important as individual ability. He is passionate, charismatic and a serial winner. And one must not forget how good he is with youth, just listen to the likes of Alvarez and Fernández wax lyrical about him and how important he was in their development. The guy is a very clever, tactically astute manager who has strong ideals and beliefs. Imo he’d be the perfect fit for a club like us and where we are now as a team.
Between reading reviews like this from @Ghost Hardware combined with seeing the clip of Gallardo below, it really seems like he could be the 'full package' .

The Slot avatar had to go because he said "nah". I don't know where we are going next and I'm kind of apathetic now, hence this new one.
