Lewis handed control to Daniel. As long as profit exists, he doesn’t care about the football team. And nor would I at his age … he’s living tge dream
We’re in the middle of a huge recession in the country, if the team has another season like this or worse then you will see the balance sheet affected.

I dot mind watching Brentford, I think they have some good players. Have a feeling he maybe a coach that would be able to adapt his style to what he has. Like I said though I’m not sure 👍
He did previously, at Brentford he played attacking football, what Is impressive about Frank is his flexibility tactically to adjust to opponents and to enhance his squads strengths.

Fans will get behind any manager who wins matches. Every manager (bar Graham) has always been given a chance from the get go regardless of how uninspiring (Nuno / Gross)
You’re right. But I just don’t think we are in a very good position to get those wins.
I think we have talented players, but there is a much greater expectation to win than before.
Nuno was not given a chance, we are on course to make a similar appointment. If we have a mid table finish again next season with a manager that the fans have no connection to, then they will be gone.
Mason is “one of our own” and says all the right things. I think Levy will take that right now.

We need to remember that a number of the current best managers in world football are ex-players who pretty hit the ground running or quickly learned from their mistakes and flourished. I’m not saying Mason will be the next Pep but at the same time we also can’t say he’s doomed to fail.

There’s a chunk of managers I would prefer to appoint but if they’re a no go then we ‘can’ do an awful lot worse.
Agree as I said yesterday and at the start of this process if we can’t get the top 7-8 which at the start would’ve been the likes of : Poch, JN, Slot, Big Ange, Amorim, De Zerbi, Tuchel and L.Enrique then I’d rather Mason over a lot of the next rung of candidates as Mason completely 💯 gets what the club and squad need, as you say if we get another Nuno type name and it’s still crap after 3 months in then our fans will be baying for blood (mostly Levy’s but still the negativity will continue), whereas Mason is one of our own and the fans will 💯 get behind him.

People keep saying he needs more experience etc, Pep only managed Barca B before getting the Barca job, Arteta was an assistant before getting the Arsenal job, Gary O’Neil in his first job did a phenomenal job at Bournemouth compared to the more ‘experienced’ Scott Parker.

If you’re the right fit and you’re ready you’re ready.

Completely agree with your sentiment re.Mason and the longer this goes on the more Mason becomes one’s of the better options.

That all being said I think there is about a 1% chance he gets the gig.

I believe we appointed Nuno at the end of June, something like 28th June… we could be in for a lot more pain and suffering just yet ladies & gents…

I’m struggling with this. It’s affected me more than I want it too, and it’s beginning to mess with my mental health, why the fuck am I caring so much about something I have no control over?
I know it’s all going to end badly so I so thought of think what’s the point in caring?

Are we even close to appointing anyone? 🤦‍♂️

To me signs point to Postecoglou. If it was Enrique or Amorim I think we would be hearing noise from their camps seeing the former is out of work and the latter has now finished the season with Sporting.

IIRC Celtic still need to play a cup final so I suspect we'll start hearing about negotiations after that.

he is greatly successful, probably exceptionally smart. However he has shown little appetite to push Levy at least openly to fix the football side and I am referring to structurally not throwing cash at it even though a more successful team would help increase the value of the club.

He may not care to grow it more, he may not want a showdown with Levy or he simply may not know about how smarter football recruitment could help grow the club even more than it is. Either way he is missing a trick a trick much smaller clubs like Brighton are not missing.
FP and the rejig of youth and scouting setups was exactly what you say you want to see. Hiring Munn to take over financial football side is the same. Looking for a new DoF who is analytics based and presumably a manager who fits that mould is what you're saying you want.

Do you disagree?

The problem is we've had a shit season and there's a lot of work to do to get the above in place and people are (perhaps rightfully) impatient.

But I get so tired of comments that fall into the "they could bring success but they don't want it" camp. If that was the case we'd never have sacked Poch let alone 3 other guys since.

I'm more critical of the ownership giving up on Poch because they were so focused on success (and yes, revenue too) having tasted it in the CL final. It was a bad mistake (imo) compounded by the hirings after.

But FP was a good move (despite him turning out to be Tony Soprano) and hopefully this move to more of a consistent analytics setup will prove successful.
