Ange is brave and sticks to his attacking instincts even if criticised for being naive for trying it against superior opposition. Players who are brave are excited to play in this way and play for him.

In the end, as Australian coach he got pissed off with all the criticism from those football people who prefer conservative, defensive and 'more realistic' tactics for a less technically proficient football nation, and so Australia ended up with the blander Graeme Arnold as coach. Ange went off to light up the J league.

Those who truly value attacking intent over conservative pursuit of results will love him, should he agree to join. He will get some stunning wins and suffer some 'avoidable' losses.

Lets be fair here his results in Europe are poor because relatively so is his squad.
That argument works for the champions league sure. But not in the Europa or conference were they got knocked out at qualifying round. That's poor imo.

Just saw this Celtic fan comment from another forum linked to by Windy, and worth a read...

Hello Spurs fans
I’m a Celtic fan and I’ve read this thread, mainly to see if any of you were ITK about Ange but a few comments need to be addressed.

A lot of you seem to be referencing Gerrard as a measure of success in Scotland. Gerrard won a single title and no cups in three seasons. It was 1 trophy out of 9 he competed for. He wasn’t a success, he was hyped up by his friends in the media because he’s Steven Gerrard. Ange won more than him in ten months. He’s currently on 4 trophies out of 5 with a cup final this weekend to make it 5 out of 6.

“Rangers have a bloke in charge that must have won a competition or something” is another comment that has stood out. After Gerrard left, Rangers appointed GVB who had won the league at Feyenoord… Isn’t that the same pedigree as the guy Slot you all wanted last week? He then took Rangers to a Europa league final 11 months ago.
This season we’ve won the league against a Rangers team that had over 90 points. A total that would have won the title 9 times out of 10. We did it by scoring a record number of goals. We beat them in a semi final and a cup final. As I said, they were in a Europa final… not a bad team you know, beating Dortmund, RB etc.

Rodger’s was a good manager who was up against incredibly poor competition. A Rangers side that had just returned to the league and had people like Mark Warburton I charge and Scottish players with no pedigree. His trebles do not compare to the one Ange is on the verge of winning and frankly his football was extremely boring for the most part and he had the personality and charisma of a dish cloth.

When Ange joined us we were also underwhelmed, our forums had splits down the middle too and we started the season really poorly going out of the CL to some Danish team and losing quite a few of our opening games but when it clicked, it clicked and I’ve watched some of the most exciting, dynamic and expansive football I’ve ever seen us play. The guy has a good ethos on how the game should be played which is quick, front foot, attacking football. It’s all about winning and winning playing the football he likes. He has no time for defensive, turgid approaches to games. We went into a game against Real Madrid with one pivot in the 6, two 8s, two wingers and inverted full backs. He has no fear and we love that. We play single pivot against everyone and we press really high up the pitch, 100 miles from the off with a lot of great rotations on each wing. We take quick free kicks, corners and throw ins. You can find a lot good examples of that play from these games:

I can understand your reservations although some of it does come across as slightly entitled but you’re a club that seems a bit lost, there’s no connection between fans, manager and players. You’ve had a lot of big time hires that haven’t worked out. This guy is probably exactly what you should be looking for. He really unites the team and the fans together, he’s a passionate guy with incredible presence. Our players will run through walls for him but they are also shit scared of him. He has no time for egomaniacs or primadonnas. He’ll weed them out fast.
Lastly, this man is a mentality monster. You are criticising his lack of pedigree. Wake up, do you know how difficult it is for a guy who’s managing in Australia to get noticed? There’s a bias towards managers from Europe or in Europe. The Morocco manager referenced it during the World Cup.
Ange has had no help, no leg up ala Gerrard, Lampard etc. He started off with Australia U17s and now he could become the first Australian to manage in the EPL. He rocked up at Celtic with not one member of staff. He backs himself like you wouldn’t believe and people follow this guy, he gets everyone on board. As for Levy, Ange is in charge of everything at Celtic. He does all the signings, he rejigged all the youth set up so now they all play the same tactics as the first team. He oversees the full project. We don’t have a DOF.

Absolutely desperate for him to stay at Celtic but I know the nature of the beast. We worship him like a God. I’ve never known a manager to be so in sync with the fans. We know Ange though and he’ll be very keen on being the first Aussie to manage in the EPL given everything he’s had to overcome to get here.

Well, that’s me hard.

People need to learn and stop making 'absolute' predictions.

Many of us said Conte and Jose were guaranteed to win us something. That never happened.

No-one has a clue!!

As I don't have anywhere near enough information about his selection by the board, I don't know if he is the right choice.
His football philosophy is though.

Fans will unite behind anyone that's winning. You only need to look at Arteta to see that. You certainly have more chance of winning at Celtic than you do at Spurs.

Not true. Especially not at clubs that win everything by default.

I’m theorising that the Munn Ange axis might be getting Levy a little excited about signing one or two well-priced Japanese players in particular.

Anyone who watches SPL regularly reckon any of their players including their Japanese forwards could hack it down south?

I think we’d all take brave players who are excited to play for a manager over the dross of last season right about now. I massively have my doubts over him and I suspect there’s lots of managers that can get us playing better football than Conte. I still think we’ll be sitting here in a week’s time undecided.

Well, that’s me hard.
It's funny because at the start of the manager search a lot of fans were saying forget the big names...that we needed somebody who thinks innovatively about the game, has a hunger and passion and really wants to be here, has presence and character and can unite the club and plays very attacking front foot football. A different approach.

Ange seems to tick a lot of boxes.

Actually based on current stats, the Scottish league now sits below the Japanese and Australian.

These are scores that take into account the average of all teams ratings.

You keep posting these screenshots of stats on how bad the Scottish league is. People get the point - please move on - it is getting boring.

While Ange might not be everyone's cup of tea, I do think its unlikely that he would even be in this position if he could not coach.

And, we need someone who can coach, not just manage. As much as I want a complete clear out - the reality is, our existing squad will have to improve if we want to progress as a club. Players will have to be coached into new tactics, and in some cases even the fundamentals of football.

Ange probably is better suited to that particular role than many of the other candidates.

He’s not my first choice but he’s pretty far from that. Sam Wallace’s record on us is pretty up and down anyway but Alasdair Gold said new names would enter the fray this week.

Silva absolutely is another pragmatic, defensive Portuguese coach.

He would be one of the worst possible picks.

For context with Silva and why I’d be so depressed.

Not only is he another defensive and reactive coach (completely against what we want to see!), his performance at Fulham has actually papered over massive cracks.

They were 14th for xG and bottom for xGA this season. Essentially they were very lucky and in most seasons would have been in the relegation dogfight. Those stats aren’t sustainable.

If we are truly moving towards using data analytics, we wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole.

I think being positive and pursuing results aren’t mutually exclusive. We’ve spent the last 3-4 years being shit scared of all of the other teams and trying to change our system to account for them. Would love to have a coach that is brave enough to try to impose our game on the opposition. I think that’ll help our “weak mentality” and I can’t see how that’ll end in worse results against the big teams. It’ll also see us learn to put away teams that are weaker than us.

I’ve not been high on Ange because like most others here I don’t know all that much about him other than his past record. But I’m don’t think we should bring someone in on just reputation, I think they should be hiring a coach that ticks the boxes needed and if they think that is Ange then I’ll support him.

Been on the Celtic forums, they all seem to think he is off. All mention about their striker Kyogo. 2 years left on his deal and will be joining him. May tie in with Kulu not being completed ?
The Feyenoord forums thought that Slot was gone 🤷‍♂️

I was responding to someone that didn't have the correct information.

I know its easier to close your eyes and pretend we’re not hiring a league one level manager but I’m not doing that.

Also the videos of him shouting have been posted at least 420 times 👍
