Maybe not right now. But, and there's no nice way to say this, Joe Lewis is 84. He could clock out at any moment (or of course go on another 15 years!) And when he does, my understanding was that his children don't have any particular interest in keeping us.

Why wouldn’t his children keep us we are a well run club that probably makes them a few million a year.

Whilst we are all being realistic, I might make a thread where we can discuss taking body parts from dead world class footballers to create a reanimated super player. Will save is a fortune in the Summer.

That could be a fun thread tbf.

To be honest I think we were only ever bought to be sold on at a profit. I'm not sure that's the case now, and I'd bet my house now that Levy doesn't want to sell. I think there's more money to be made by owning a club now than selling one or would these Americans with little interest in football still be here. Liverpool United and Arsenal are testament to that.

So Joe Lewis doesn’t earn anything each year from spurs? Honest question it just doesn’t sound correct to me.

Why would he?

He's an investor for capital gain. Leaving cash in the company is very likely to increases its capital value to him more than paying it out to him in dribs and drabs. If he preferred cash to investments he wouldn't be a professional investor in the first place.

I think this is a fairly common misunderstanding about investors. People believe all they want is cash but the truth is that they know better than most that cash is a poor source of wealth most of the time, and if you invest well, which obviously they believe they are capable of doing, your wealth will increase far more effectively than it will if you take dividends out of your better investments.

That is correct.

The investment strategy isn't to earn an income from Spurs. Rather, it is to maximise capital value. He will likely sell when he believes that that value has been maximised. Then he will receive a huge windfall.

Very rough estimate - ENIC's total investment for their 85% shareholding....£150m. Possible sale price currently (after accounting for the debt)....between 1.5 and £2 billion. Possible profit (85% of 1.5 - 2 billion minus 150m) therefore....£1.125 billion to £1.55 billion.

Thanks for the info. Seem a long time without getting anything.

What somebody posted earlier.
I def. read that his daughter is the biggest fan of all which made me wonder why she had little influence on player dealings (Joe telling Daniel we must pay that bit extra for Dyabala/Fernandes/Grealish etc etc etc etc etc etc) but I suppose he tells her Daniel is in charge of all that.
I'm sure it will all change when Joe goes to The Good Place.

Hilarious how many people have voted for Bezos.

Ignorance is bliss, eh!
Absolutely. I'm sure though that there are more commercial opportunities with companies like Amazon to be explored.

Wouldn't surprise me if he went full on crazy and did the whole space thing (Blue Origin) full time or something.

I can only assume people who voted for him know nothing about him or something - we'd have been knees deep in a Super League, with a full-time Big Brother style Prime documentary, with staff on furlough etc. The irony is that he'd no doubt be the strange exaggerated version of DL that people seem to hate so much.

I'd expect Amazon to do what Ryan Reynolds has done, if he wanted to buy a club. Slower process, but far more financial sense in the long term.

For sure. I don't see ENIC selling too soon anyway and any outside investment won't come at the expense of Levy's control. Obviously we have already had a link up with Amazon and there is still the possibility of naming rights although we were led to believe that there are other interested parties.
