I don't see it Sarge. I do think he is talented but he doesn't seem to make good decisions and hasn't made a real impact. While his flicks are good he often runs into trouble.

Lamela is a very skilful player, but he seems to have the uncanny knack of making simple things overly and unnecessary complicated.

Zaniolo arrived from Inter B-team, and has been a regular in the starting eleven and made his debut in the national side. Is that a average season???

I don't think he is good enough for us right now but he certainly got potential. I think he will end up being a box-to-box midfielder.
Well he has scored 4 & assisted 2 last season. I am not sure how that is not a avg season for a AM/RM.
If he is the real deal more than welcome to have him . But he doesn't seem a screaming buy

Well he is 20 years old, and this is his breakthrough season. He only started 20 games and in 5 of them played in CM, if he was established from the start those stats would look much better. For him personally this has been a massively successful season.

He is essentially all about potential. He's a youth player. Chiesa, though a bit younger, posted similar stats in his first seasons. Now he is one of Serie A's best players.

Highly promising kid!

"Roma teenager Zaniolo is given the award for Best Young Player of 2018-19 in Italy."

Average season you say?

As I said earlier I do not claim to know the player he is. Delighted to have a great potential player any time. I have only gone by his stats & general YouTube clips to make an assessment. I know it’s not the way to assess but that’s what I can given not seen him play till now.

Having said above , I would always be skeptical of players coming with 1 or 2 seasons at Serie A.

I think that’s harsh Ron. I think he adds fluidity to our attack. I feel the team is less fluid when he’s not in the team. Players like Eriksen, Moura and Dele just don’t have the fluidity that he brings.

Lamela is also very good at transitioning defence to attack. The team as a whole is a lot more fluid when he’s in it.

He brings a certain energy to the team and I think a big part of that is a particular fluid Argentinians are a fan of. It’s called Mate. If you’re not sure what it is, I suggest you look it up. It’s an interesting fluid indeed. But enough about fluids.

I think someone like Lo Celso will add to the fluidity Lamela brings to the team (he’s another player who drinks that particular Argentine fluid).

Lamela is going to have a big season. I can feel it in my fluids.

You have been drinking too much mate, mate

Hoping this one will happen. Looks a quality player.
Now we seemed to have offered Toby in part exchange

Sadly, this must be newspaper BS. We have absolutely no control over where Toby chooses to go, so we can't offer him as makeweight in any deal. Only in the unlikely event he chooses to go to Roma of his own accord, can we scrap the incoming fee to balance the outgoing one...

He looks as close to a Dele player to compete with him that I've seen apart from Havertz at Leverkusen.

Very strong and elegant looking but something tells me we ain't in for him unless we miss out on other targets. Using Toby as leverage in a deal would be smart business though.

Always wary of Italian players in the premier league. I can't think of too many recent examples where they have done well.

We also don't know if it's been discussed with Toby which it might have been
It's not out there any more than some of the others
He looks like a quality player

I loved Nicola Berti - he'd have been brilliant if he could have broken out of a jog during a game.

He's been absolutely awful each time I've seen him. I normally get excited by all links to exotic foreigners from Spurs, even Chiriches - but I think he'd flop big time from what I've seen.

The mooted swap deal above is just about the worst idea I've ever seen. There's a reason Inter weren't too fussed about losing him in the swap for Radja, his ability has been overstated because nobody expected anything from him imo.

That to me looks a winner. Toby and Lamela to Roma and Zaniolo to Spurs just looks too perfect.
Doing this deal and maybe the Ceballos deal do we need Lo Celso at a crazy price?
Maybe getting in Sessegnon and an RB would be more beneficial.
I think then the key player would be Dele. With Lamela and Eriksen gone, Dele would have to show that he is up there with the best in his play
