No Friedel

OK so Harry can't be blamed for the result today, and he won't be. BUT starting Cudicini ahead of Freidel was quite frankly a ridiculous decision. Friedel has been immense for us this season and has been playing regularly in the premier league for an eternity. Cudicini on the other hand, has played a handful of games this season and as much as I'd admit he has played well in this campaign, he's never convinced me as ever having a chance of being our permanent number 1 keeper.

So why oh why does he start him in arguably one of our biggest games of the season?????? I know most, probably 4, of our goals you could not put him at fault, but I just feel with Friedel in goal we would have looked a lot more solid.

There's no room for sentiments in football and Chelsea proved that today. Start our god damn best player, even if it means dropping one that has played fairly well in the previous string of cup games.

You don't change your keeper before the Semi Final of the FA Cup unless it's an absolute must. They have played almost every game with Brad behind them. I don't understand the thinking behind such a crucial position change. And even then, put Gomes in, why the fuck Harry appears to have washed his hands of the bloke for, i have know idea.

Gomes is crocked but I think it's silly the way he's been completely frozen out.

No way. I pulled my hair out when I saw Cudicini announced as our keeper. Friedel is a far better keeper than Cudicini....... I dare anyone to disagree with me there.

I'm not saying Friedel is not better, he is. No argument. But you can't say Fridel would have saved this shot or that shot. No one in the world has the power to know that.

What I'm saying is, it's easy to say we should have played Friedel after the game, but it would be just as easy to say we should have played Cudicini after the game if Friedel had played and we'd lost 5-1.

As soon as I heard the keeper I was like WHAT!!!!!!! The defence just didn't seem to have confidence in him which left them extra shaky. I believe he would have encouraged players to push up.

It probably wouldn't have made much of a difference, but, brad is our number 1 keeper and should have started. This was not a league cup semi, but an fa cup semi against a huge rival, on the back of a Shit run of results. There is no room for sentimentality, we are too nice. We need a winning mentality at the club or we will always get bullied when push comes to shove. So what if Carlo played in all the other rounds, its the semi final. Pick your best team,or don't bother. What message did that send out before kick off...........oh aren't we being nice to our reserve keeper, giving him a nice day out at Wembley.
This team and club needs to man up if we are going to play with the big boys.....

Cudicini was shocking, he was so hesitant at times that it could have been even worse

To be honest Cudicini wasn't bad until that "goal" was given, then he seem to lose his way like Gallas and to some degree King. It seemed to knock the stuffing out of them a little despite us getting back into the game moments later.

Can't be faulted for the free kick either - the ball changed direction half way, that's why he made a step to the right first.

The Lampard free kick was the only one he was poor with. The Ramires chip was just overall poor defending, he perhaps could've made himself bigger but it was a good finish by Ramires who is a good little player. He was just showing his team mates what Messi is going to do to them 5 times.
