Our squad will have improved. It's called continuity, we have an excellent, young and settled squad that will continue to grow and improve together as a unit. It may not be as exciting as a big name signing, but it's just as vital.

If we stay clear of the injury crisis we had last year, our young players improve further and Gallas and Sandro fit in nicely then we will be stronger.

Stop being so pessimistic, Spurs fans should have so little to be pessimistic about, but reading SC today you'd think we were a club in crisis.

+1....
Its like when your little and you see the kid down the road has a new bike. Your dad tells you that your bikes fine, its well made, sterdy and you are used to it. You cry and cry and beg him for a new bike. Then you hear 2 weeks later that the little boy down the road is in hospital because the wheels on his brand new bike fell off.

Or the squad that saw off Citeh's last collection of transfers will see off their latest collection of transfers.

Or that's what we tell ourselves, because even teams that win the league, always strengthen in the offseason. Notice that United had a bad summer in 2005 and 2009 and came in second. They had stronger transfers from Jan in 2006 to summer in 2008 and won the league.

Stagnation is a mid-table goal.

United 2005-06
In: van der Saar, Vidic, Park, Foster, Evra (most during Jan after a slow summer and they were far behind 1st)
2nd Place

United 2006-07
Ins: after great Jan, Carrick and Larsson
Won League

United 2007-08
In: Hargreaves, Anderson, Nani, Kuszczak, Manuco, Possebon
Won Double

United 2008-09
In: Berbatov, Tosic, de Laet
Won League, Lost CL final

United 2009-10
in: Valencia, Obertan, Owen
2nd and embarrassment against Bayern

Not really conclusive either way particularly as it is only based one team. City bought loads of players last season and came 5th. Chelsea bought bardly anybody and won the league.

At the end of the day transfers don't guarantee success. The sooner people realise that the sooner they'll stop getting hives on deadline day.

What all this talk about Harry going after Babel? And would he prove to be a tower of strength?

Exactly what I am thinking, he could be another Bale and just needs a touch of ARRYs magic dust, hes certainly got the speed and boot at him but nothing thats says hes worth £10 million, all my dipper mates have been txting me laughing at how sh*te he is.......... How much did KJH go for?.......

Chelsea brought in Turnbull, Sturridge, Zhirkov and Matic. Oh and a manager. So they did make changes. Hardly stagnation.

And City had their highest finish in the EPL ever.

So once again, stagnation is nobody's friend. It's okay to stagnate as long as we have realistic expectations, which are Europa and not CL next year. That's where I am. Hopefully a fun run in Europe and 6th in the league. If we do better, then a fun surprise.

The sooner you realize that, the sooner you will avoid hives come march.

And we've signed Pletikosa, Sandro and Gallas. So that's not stagnation is it?

Squad not improved enough, if we cant get players from the next level when we are in the CL we never will, we are stuck at this level unless we get rich Arab owners.

This level?

This is the level we've been aiming to get to for the last 18 years or so. I reckon we can survive being 'stuck' at this level for a few years without panicking.

If you look back you'll see I posted that I think we will slip back as a result of this window. Cant see us getting out of CL group or top 4, with this squad, so CL every 50 years or so will be our level.

Apart from Man City, who has actually make any glass shattering signings in this window?

Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona:razz: WHY DIDNT WE BID FOR VILLA, OZIL AND IBRA!!!!!1111

But yes, I agree, no one in the Premiership has made any outstanding signings. I don't even think City have, only player they signed who I would take is Silva. I think Toure on £200k a week is mental.

So you're saying that will be enough to keep us above Liverpool and City. Okay, we'll see.

I get that you don't like me. I'm fine with that.

But had I said, well we needed o strengthen a little. You would have had a hissy fit, been passive aggressive and told me to give proof.

So I tried to be proactive and give proof that stagnation and strengthening are concerns. So you have a hissy fit, are passive aggressive ( I believe you used the ITK forum to claim that I am a supporter of transfers and not the club which is a horrible thing to say ) and want further proof.

I show a little more and you throw a hissy fit, stay passive aggressive and tell me that signing 3rd keeper, a kid we many never see play, and an old ass CB are proof of us moving forward.

Have it your way talkshow.

You've just hit Dan Ashcroft status in my book.

A year in the CL is never going to make a difference. Even now, Liverpool will still be viewed as a club that is a CL club. A 2nd season in a row might make some difference, but a 3rd season would cement it.

Oh no...how will I cope with that stunning put down :grin:.

Your post said that Chelsea didn't stagnate because they bought Turnbull, Matic, Sturridge and Zhirkov who played 50 games between them in all competitions last year.

Granted Pletikosa won't play many times thi season but I reckon Sandro and Gallas will play more than 50 games between them.

Not really sure what your argument is.

Anyone whos happy with this window is nuts. For years we are told we will attract top players once in CL, I guess not. Those whom are not dissapointed with this window i just dont get, was really hoping to move to the next level. Fingers crossed for rich Arabs.

Almunia is not worse than Cudicini though so while Gomes is out the balance is redressed. They also have a habit of humping rubbish teams out of the park and we've just dropped a massive 3 points at home to one...

So thats that then, lets hope we can keep the squad up to fitness so we can compete in all comps. Harry will surely have to do an Arsenal in the cups now?
