From Marca:

Rafael Van der Vaart will play at Tottenham Hotspur. The Real Madrid and the England team have reached an agreement in the Netherlands midfielder last few hours and goes to the Premier after two years at the Bernabeu.

It is speculated that the transfer has been closed for more than 10 million euros. Real Madrid sought to extend the deadline for international transactions, which has made possible the progress of Van der Vaart to English football. Bayern, who thought the Dutchman to fill the gap left by the injured Robben ruled out surgery a day ago.

Seems about £8.5m.

1947: Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says the club are waiting for confirmation that their signing of Rafael van der Vaart, for around £8m, has been ratified by the Premier League.

I think we may rue not atleast trying to break the bank for a real centre forward(don't ask me who) but someone with a little more physical presence than the four we have currently got and maybe one who would be banging us 20 league goals in a season.

I think elsewhere we are adequately sorted out.

the window closed awhile ago, be amazing if that happened. although thats just the part of me that wants a shiny new signing, VDV isnt really want we need most, a top striker. but still a new shiny player is always cool

VDV is a great addition, exactly what we needed, someone that can take pressure of Modric and he has a serious left peg on him!

Well Done Levy you tight git!!!!

VDV is a super star ...
Hes perfect as the man to play in front of our midfield.
Im very very pleased with this if it happens.
Fair play to Levy

Pleased if it happens, because he's good, but not too fussed if it doesn't, because he's not really needed.

Trust us to leave it late.

Good signing IF we have him "oh god please let it be so". I think Modders will play left Hudd and VDV in middle, VDV more of a threat attacking the box which IMO we need from midfield which I think we lack, sometimes we have alot of guile and cunning with modders and Hudd but no real "penetration".

HE is the right age, and buckets of experience and if the figure of under £10m is true its a bargin. A welcome addition that definitely improves the squad.

He'll play where Cole would've played. Probably in the hole. I really think Harry is looking at changing formation this season. He can be our goalscoring midfielder.

Huddlestone....Modric
Lennon............VDV............Bale
Crouch

While we've been crying out for a new striker, this could prove just as effective a signing. I firmly believe our strikers will score goals if given the chance. The trouble they have is, they don't really do enough to score goals out of nothing. So it's more important for the midfield to create chances for them and open teams up. I think VDV could help us do that.

How many strikers score goals out of nothing though? In fact when it comes to scoring goals out of nothing Defoe and Pav are quite good, what we don't get are enough of the cheap goals.

After much thinking, I came to these conclusions:

1) We did not lose any players
2) Not every team can improve in the window. It's impossible.
3) We have definitely improved, as we could not possibly have weakened through the buying of players

hence it is a good window for us . If we get VDV it becomes great

I wonder if Pav could work well with VDV like he does with Arshavin for Russia

Drogba, Torres and Rooney in particular. The score some special goals and matchwinning ones.

If we need more cheap goals, we don't do enough to create those cheap goals.
