And NEVER complains about not starting every game. It's very hard to find servicable backup players who won't fuck up with the squad chemistry or want to leave after one season. No complaining, leaks to media, just does a great job whenever Romero is injured and gets back to training.
I rate him. He has eliminated brain farts and is now more solid. The benefit he has over the rest of the defence is his pace and actually I think his aerial ability is a lot better than most.

I would definitely keep him.

Conte always cedes possession but we're controlling spaces very very well right now. It's why we are hard to create against.

Do think Romero gives us a different option when bringing the ball out though and his passing range is far better, so it does give the WB and Kulu more to work with too.

Yep, definitely hope Romero is back soon and if Longlet can be similar on the other side that will be a massive bonus too.

We shouldn't be looking to give up a lot of possession to weaker teams. It clearly is our strategy I get it, but why? We should be on the front foot forcing the game not looking to counter constantly. Against better teams we will not be so fortunate.

Why? Because it is the best way to use our best players best traits. We have the best counter attacking front line in Europe. We do not have the best front line in Europe playing tiki taka around the box.

Conte is being paid to win football matches, not to take our best players and make them play to their weaknesses.

You mean like v City and Liverpool last season? I think we'll be fine.

. Agree..
The good stuff will come. There will be games were we dominate, play well and lose and there will games like today. There will be some games you have to win (Conte) and some games you mustn’t lose. It’s going to be an interesting season. Loving it so far.
When will we dominate? I don't think we have in any of our opening games. It is clearly a tactic but does invite teams on and does rely both on our defensive stability and our front 3. I would much prefer we stamp our authority on games especially on teams who have just been promoted and have signed about 17 new players.

You say we were never in control, but what I think you mean is we didn't have the bulk of possession. Looked obvious to me we conceded possession tactically because of how susceptible they were to the counter. We didn't even try to win the ball back until we were set in the low block.

As you say we were sloppy at times at playing out but never really looked in any real danger.
We haven’t given up a shot in the six yard box until today. Even without the ball, the squad has rarely been threatened. It’s good.

That chance sessegnon had to find kane. He really needs to get that right
So so frustrating. If you take that extra touch in your he box you have to do it to open up an extra option. Pretty much highlighted why Perisic is a starter from here on out.

We controlled the game without the ball. I know it's not fashionable in the modern game but it can be done to great effect if done properly.

Limited Forest to one good chance I can remember and their shot on target was a long range effort easily dealt with by Lloris.
Not against better teams. I'm happy we won. I'd be ecstatic if we learnt to keep the ball. That's all. We had good shape of course we did, but for me that's not sustainable.
This is a game we should be looking to boss. Are you saying that our game plan is to not have the ball? Because Conte himself was furious on the touchline at times with our use of the ball

Why does it feel like everyone has been brainwashed into believe the only way to control and win football matches is by having the majority of possession?

Says who?
It’s either moan all season or perhaps maybe accept that this will be Contes approach.

Our midfield is dominated every game currently. Why? That doesn't rely on tiki taki just player playing more confidently and less defensively. We sit deep and break quick. No pressure or pressing on the ball until the final 30 yards. I just don't necessarily get why we do it.

I genuinely don't think we have played well for a full 90 mins so far this season and it feels like we take a full half to get going. It needs addressing as I don't think it will work against stronger teams who will definitely take advantage.

Satisfying result in the end, a rare Kane miss from the spot meant the game was in the balance for a lot longer than it should have been.

Great that we are getting results knowing we have a few gears to go up to.

Form doesn't matter as far as the next game goes, we know West Ham will be saving their best game so far this season for our visit so we will have to be ready to immediately up it a gear or two if we get are to get three points from them.

Agree. If you set up with a 2 man midfield and 3 up front, you are not looking to have extremely high possession. We clearly want to counter, which requires, time without the ball.

Why? The objective is to win, not get 51% possession. I get why people want us to play more attractive possession football because it's nice to watch. Winning is winning though, and winning by executing your game plan is exactly what you train all week to achieve.

As Conte keeps telling us it's not going to be perfect over night and he's been here for 9 months. It will improve, and getting results whilst we build to that is all that matters.

Defensively we are very solid and do not concede many clear cut chances .It’s just at times hard to be totally comfortable watching us giving the opposition so much time and space in our final third.
All of our front 3 were very casual when we counterattacked today. We really should have put the game to bed in the first half. Some of our passing was also sloppy. Once we tighten up those aspects of our play we will be a real threat to any team.
It’s early days yet and we have 10 points from 4 games and we still haven’t really began to use our new signings so there is every reason to believe we will get even better. We are starting an intensive run of games over the next 3 weeks so this is where Conte needs to show that he can successfully rotate the squad and start making use of our new additions. By the time the international breaks comes around we should have a better idea of what our prospects for this season will be.

Potential talk for Sanchez again? Good lord.
He's too poor on the ball, like basic things. Loves a one two with Lloris because he doesn't know what to do with it.
I can't believe people still talk about potential.
Those mistakes were early in his career were they? He makes them every season. Remember those part timers who embarrassed him?
Anyway we won. Yay. COYS
Personally I thought he was extremely calm in possession today, he might not be exceptional on the front foot but he’s far from error prone these days. You have to remember he’s a back up, not a starter and he knows that. Give me an example of another team in Europe who has a better back up defender then Sanchez?

We won't be able to keep the ball better until Romero is back and two top class ball playing centre halves are along side him. We would also need someone better at rwb on the ball than Royal.

Conte has us currently playing a system that maximises our strengths while trying to hide our weaknesses.

Yep. We were also complaining last season when weaker teams were sitting deep and we couldn’t break them down despite all our possession. Seems like a perfectly natural progression - doing the same, sucking them in and hitting them on the break.
