He (Redknapp) said: "I thought Bobby Zamora was outstanding, in the first half he held the ball up very well. I wish he was still at Tottenham."

I'm more than happy to give Harry a run at creating his own team, but why does he keep chatting in the media about every joe average player in the prem? It's starting to annoy me. Can we get back to being linked with Villa and Arshavin please? Pipe dreams maybe, but at least I can get excited about the link, rather than adding to my frustration of another dull performance today.

surely u can see why he wants a playe like zamora. nearly every ball that went up field to zamora in the air he won and either brought down to give it to another player or won the header. If we had a player that could hold up the ball up field then that would bring modric into the game further up the pitch instead of him having to come deep for it. You have to remember u dont need great individuals to make a great team.

I thought Zamora was rubbish today and in general Fulham posed no real threat. I can understand the need for a link man yes, I agree with you that is is something that we need, but I think Zamora is average at best and we should be aiming higher. Did he not prove that when he was here before?

i can't stand all the villa capel etoo nonsense

harry is completely right about we need a striker who can hold the ball up

of course it wont be zamora but a big/strong striker is exactly what we need plus a mid a defender and back up gk

Harry knows what he's doing. It's called distracting the media while he signs someone else. Let's wait until the window is over before we judge Harry's transfer dealings!

I think it's unrealistic to aim at the likes of Villa or Arshavin etc. The only way we would be able to bring in those types of player is if they aren't wanted by the Top 4, or they had a serious desire to specifically play for Spurs.

A return to the heights (and beyond) of a couple of seasons ago will not happen in this transfer window. The only thing that the club should be concentrating on this season is Premiership survival and possibly winning the CC.

At the moment, we have a terribly weak strike force that needs bread-and-butter, no-frills strikers (among others) who can link the play and bag goals. We don't need a glamour signing and, in truth, we probably won't get any anyway.

Come the summer, Harry can finally do what has been denied the last two Spurs managers, and that's a free hand in bringing in the players he deems necessary to the club. And again, that doesn't necessarily mean the big-name, big-money show ponies of Europe.

Harry knows what he's doing when it comes to players and it shows when you look at the types of players he has groomed at West Ham and Portsmouth. The majority of the players he's coached have flourished. Think of Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, or Lassana Diarra. That's the type of man-manager Harry is and he has an eye for what makes a good player. As far as I'm concerned, if he said that Joe Kickabout from Arse-end-of-Nowhere United was the man he thought was best for the club, then I'd trust his judgement and sit back and watch.

The club has spent too much money on big-name signings that have delivered very little, two of the biggest being strikers (Bent and Pavlyuchenko). And the club has steadily declined from its recent peak. Perhaps it's time to forget the glamour and concentrate on the some gritty, no-nonsense players.

Getting a Villa or an Arshavin would be like putting a plaster on a broken leg. It will not address the underlying problems with the Spurs squad, primarily its lack of depth and relative inexperience. We need some grit and experience and that comes not from Europe's elite, but from right here at home. Even if that means the likes of Bobby Zamora or (God forbid) Craig Bellamy.

Zamora has been brilliant this season. While he mght not score many, his physicality causes problems and his holdup play invites his team mates to get involved. Whilst he might not score as many as Bent, I think he is a much more useful player to have.

According to Twitchy, every player he ever talks about is "special", "great", "magic" or "terrific". He does talk some pony sometimes.

Zamora is a cart horse. Couldn't finish his dinner.

we all know (or should) that HR thinks half the prem or more are 'terrfic smashing' players

harry is football's answer to jim bowen (from Bullseye for younger readers)

judge him on who he signs and what they do, not who he praises

Perhaps there is something more subtle in Harry's approach though? Perhaps his comments don't mean "I want to sign Bobby Zamora", but rather "why aren't my strikers doing what I want them to do?" i.e. hold the ball up properly. Bent was perfectly useless today, Campbell was not much better and Pav did OK, but without enough time to make an impact.

However, I did feel that cheering Harry's decision to sub Bent is probably unlikely to help matters in the next few games.

Make no mistake, we're not a very good team at the moment and the likes of Villa and Arshavin aren't, IMO, going to change that. We need some fundamental changes to the spine of the team - a proper DM to dominate midfield and a reliable striker to start with.

Of course, I might well be mistaken as I've been drinking sloe gin and champagne cocktails since 4.30, so my thoughts are, admittedly, a little clouded...

what Harry's saying is our current strikers arent getting the job done. How would you feel if you were a striker at Spurs and knew your manager wanted to get Bellamy or Zamora to replace you. Not Arshavin or Villa, but frickin' Bellamy and Zamora. I have to say he's right, too.

May be he would take him for Campbell, he is right. but why he picked him instead of Roman yesterday ?

btw, Zamora is good squad player consdering we paid £16m for Bent.
