yeah you have a point.

I worry about Modders attitude if he doesn't get his move this year.

Alonso will play with Modric in a 4-2-3-1 imo.

Modric Alonso

Ronaldo Ozil Di Maria

Benzema

Seriously handy.

It leaves Diarra, Khedira, Granero, Sahin, Kaka on the sidelines. Something has to give there.

true but they have a lot of games to get through so they will no doubt rotate their squad with that sort of depth

Yes they will have to rotate but it'll be hard giving all of them game time. I think we'd have a shot at Sahin in this deal considering that he might be 5th or 6th choice.

The pain of losing Modric would be greatly lessened if Sahin came the other way. He was by far the best player at the World U17's in Peru in 2005 but shamefully due to politics only won the Bronze Ball behind Anderson and GDS. He can pass, tackle and shoot. He's a confidence player who needs to be loved to show his best and there's little doubt that with his skills he'd be loved at Spurs.

Sahin struggled for games when fit last season, at least he struggled for games that had meaning. Modric will only put him further down the pecking order.

I always get the impression Real bought him because he was going cheap and it made financial sense. Even with little game time last season they will get more than what they paid for him on the current market.

I don't see this happening.

JJ has already said Sahin doesn't want to leave Madrid so it would seem we've already asked the question.

the problem is they want modric. not we WANT to sell modric. so they want, they HAVE to convince sahin. we do not need to do the work. if i was levy i will either rob them off a CM or ST. any players of madrid quality will definitely be hard to buy within 15 mil at the normal market.

Our team would be thrown way out of shape with Kaka. Would be terrible combining him and VdV but we wouldn't be able to rotate them.

that doesn't work though. lacks pace, width and mobility. Lennon would fit better.

Couldn't Siggurdson, VDV, and Sandro work in a 4-3-3 formation? Thus meaning we don't really need another midfielder.

Maybe I'm wrong but I picture Siggurdson as having the mobility and workrate to make up for VDV playing in midfield as well. We would be officially finished with 4-4-2 though.

Though ideally of course I would want Sahin + money for Modric.

The Telegraph have picked up on this now they are saying a £50m deal, £30m for Modric plus Sahin

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...se-to-taking-charge-at-Tottenham-Hotspur.html

towards the bottom of the article.

Well I can sleep easier now that the Telegraph has picked up on it, it's as good as done

IF it was ever Sahin plus cash for Modders it would never be at those values. Would love it to happen but believe cash would be nearer £25m with Sahin rated at £15m. But even then still got to persuade Sahin to come

At home it would. Away from home, I would have 2 DMS, Bale left, Sigurdsson right, VDV behind STRIKER.

Swap deals rarely happen. Look at how long the Vertonghen deal is taking, it's hard enough with only 1 player involved.

The reason Sahin would be such a good fit for Spurs if we lose Modric is that he likes to tackle and win the ball back. Not just stick a leg out and nick the ball tackles a la Carrick but proper ball and man tackles like Parker does. That means he can play in CM instead of either Parker or Sandro and we can afford another midfielder who doesn't tackle as much such as Gylfi or VDV. Alternatively when we're away to the top teams we could play all 3 which would give us a rock solid midfield. He also has at least as good long range passing as Modric or Thudd and poses a goal threat. It's one of those situations where both sides would benefit as RM need Modric's skillset more than Sahin's while our requirements are the converse (not to mention the extra £20M in the kitty and saying ta-ta to ratface moodyboy without improving our rivals).

He would seriously drop down the playing order if Modric arrived, it would be a big coup on our part to get him, its not as if Real Madrid cannot attract this type of quality player again, they hardly need a yellow pages ad.
He would be a perfect trade if Madrid have set cash aside for another purchase, Sahin was dirt cheap and his actual resale value would probably be double what they paid..
As far as formation goes if its AVB he plays a 433 so front 6 might be this...

Bale-------Defoe?------VDV
Sahin-----Sandro------Sig

Moutinho could play the Sahin role also, but we would save 20m+ for a striker if its Sahin...

If we get Sahin, i'm gonna have to nut one out about it. Him and Moutinho would be the idealest replacements for Modric. I'm crossing my fingers like a maniac.
