Meant to post this the other day, but better late than never! After listening to John White's son mention it on the Spurs Show.

The British Pathé website ( http://www.britishpathe.com/ ) has some excellent old footage of mighty Tottenham of the 1960's. Ideal for those of us who never got to see it, and for those that did to relive the Glory Glory years!

Also Rob White (the aforementioned son of John) has a website for a biography of John ( http://www.theghostofwhitehartlane.co.uk/index.html ) - the book will be out in February, and will no doubt be worth a read.

Thanks for that.

Saw him play 3 or 4 times with my old dad when I was a youngster, the night of the testimonial for his family against Scotland was the saddest in 50 years of attending WHL.

On the day he died I was playing football & cricket with some school friends in Enfield. I recall a dark cloud and heavy rain (but no thunder) and we had to shelter under the roof of the old cricket pavilion for what seemed like ages until the storm passed, at which point we resumed our adventures.

We must have started to wander off towards home about 3 hrs later, but were met at the top of our road by my mate Bruce's mum.

It's strange how you remember the little things, but she wasn't in tears or anything - just kept wringing her hands as she told us there were rumours that John White had been killed playing golf up at Crews Hill about 3 miles away.

Desperately sad for his young family at the time, and as a footballer he was approaching his peak. With Blanchflower's retirement and MacKay's broken leg Billy Nic was building his post-double winning team around him, Cliff Jones and Jimmy Greaves.

I look forward to the publication of the book.

Cheers WLWH. Happy memories for me!

It's one of my long-term moans, though, that while it's possible to market a DVD of the 5-1 against Arsenal or our win over Chelsea four years ago, there's no sign of the 63 CWC final or several other classic games in the club shop.
