Just starting a player thread off the back of the Goat's ITK.

Ousmane Dembélé (born 15 May 1997) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club Barcelona and the France national team

On 25 August 2017, La Liga side Barcelona announced that they had reached an agreement to sign Dembélé for €105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons.
On 28 August, he had his medical and signed a five-year contract, with his buyout clause set at €400 million

He was bought 100m plus 40m i add ons ..... i just cannot see us buying purely becuase the figures just dont compute for us in terms of transfers money .... also very strange they want rid of him after his very early injury .... hmmm something seems fishy about it ... prior to that dont get me wrong proper little player ... just cant think why bqrca want rid potentially so early on after his transfer and injury.

Can only see it being be a season long loan - which would be pointless.

Class player but will cost an arm, a leg and probably both kidneys. Agree that that it seems strange they are looking to sell so soon.

Zaha and Martial are in the 50-70 range. I don’t see Ousmane being much different. I suspect they haven’t paid any of the performance based add ons as he’s not played much and when he has, he’s not been great. They won’t get their initial 100m back due to the aforementioned performances so I don’t think the fee would be too different.

Probably a pipe dream but hey it's that time of the year.

Barca looking to shift players/wages that won’t get much playing time, much like the VDV situation.

So it may be true that there’s better value near the end of the window.

Pipe dream, is he not on €250,000 a week? He would likely have to half that to come to us.

I hope this isn't our 'we went after something spectacular and ended up with fuck all' attempt (like Aguero was).

All we've heard is that he's being offered about by agents and he would consider us. Nobody has said we're interested or trying to do anything.

I think if you watch his highlights at Barca, you'll see he wasn't fantastic there.

Dortmund period I was impressed with.

It may be that post-serious injury he's not the same player anymore. Or at least may take time to get back to where he was.

Agree, but it offers a nice smokescreen if Levy fucks about and we end up with nothing. He's way out of our reach for all sorts of reasons and I'd hope we stay well clear and concentrate on deals that are viable.

To me it seemed like he was starstruck at Barca. He just didn't show the confidence to take players on and played safe a lot of the time (taking a touch and passing it on). One of his best games actually came when Messi wasn't playing. He ran more with the ball in that game. I dont know if he just feels like he can't hold onto the ball too long in case he upsets the star players. There's definitely a lot more to come from him than we saw at Barca. I actually think a team like ours is what he needs to be a part of. The price will be way too high though and we don't loan players in anymore. Surely Zaha is more affordable and a player Poch has wanted for some time now.

If we are struggling to sign Grealish we aren't getting Dembele. Simple facts. Would love him though.

For the right money would be an amazing buy... Just wish would take a risk and go big for the new stadium. In the modern game you have to raise your profile with marquee players to ultimately grow the clubs wealth through sponsorship and advertising

lol there’s one of these every window, with a week to go.

‘We tried’.

Just sign Zaha and give him to Poch.
