O. Dembele looked electric in Germany, not so much in Barca, which could be down to numerous reasons.

My main concern would be how he adapts to the PL and to Pochettino's way of playing. On the other hand he looked fantastic at Dortmund and they play in a similar mold.

Regardless I see O. Dembele as a much more risky signing than either of Martial and Zaha.

I just cant see it, I'm not going to get to excited about this one. Would be an incredible signing but Barca will want to get back as much money as possible and I just can't see us coming close.

Pipe dream, is he not on €250,000 a week? He would likely have to half that to come to us.
Yeah but the Spanish government claim half of it back at the end of your contract, in exchange for a suspended sentence

If we are struggling to sign Grealish we aren't getting Dembele. Simple facts. Would love him though.
Oy, how is refusing to pay AV's absurdly high valuation "struggling to sign Grealish", and why would that stop us from paying a reasonable, albeit higher, fee for the much better Dembele?

Do this then if we can find an Oussmane Sissoko and we'll have a full bloody set.

Unfortunately this just won't happen. Fees will be sky high in all departments.
Barca won't take a big loss on him they would expect surely 100m at least, we could only offer maybe 40 or 50m at a push?

Then there's the wages. Again.. No.

Agent fees on top of all that, there's probably more chance getting Bale back

Agreed with this.

The only silver lining may be if OD desperately wants to go and Barca aren't fussed about keeping him - i could see the fee being lowered then but with lots of add-ons/incentives which for a young, top tier talent/prospect, may make it workable. I'm very skeptical though.

Also agree with @Haddock - he's probably the riskier signing from the names mentioned to date (Martial/Zaha); he's got incredible potential but is probably more costly vs. what he'd bring to the fold immediately at Spurs.

I believe its all about Levy's mentality in this transfer window. I guarantee if it was Chelsea they wouldn't let this Grealish deal run down to deadline day (which is looking likely). If we desperately want the player and believe he will make a major impact, we should get the player, even if we have to put an extra 5-10m or so. Hell, look at Everton, they spent 50m on Richarlson, which is nowhere near worth it, but they are showing ambition and giving their fans something to rave about. I understand getting a reasonable price for a player but once in a while you just have to take a punt and overspend.

We all know we won't get Dembele, especially if we are stalling on Zaha/Martial. I don't see Levy entertaining a loan offer either.

Also worth noting, even if there was an agreement between both parties on a fee, Barcelona, like Real, always insist on a buy back clause to save face so even if we did pull this off (which we won't), I wouldn't get too comfortable with him!

But the suggestion from ITK is that Grealish isn't our top target for that position - and that's why the deal's not been done yet.

Rather than looking at one of Zaha, Martial, Pulisic & Dembele, it would make a real statement if we could get two of them.

And, yes, I know it's never going to happen :chicken:

People love to beat Levy in anyway possible, sad as fuck.

Maybe if we weren't sat here less than two weeks from deadline day having made no signings and no outgoings, while every team around us has strengthened substantially, then people wouldn't be giving the bald fucker such a hard time?

Just a thought

Have they though? Teams buy a shitload of players every year and don’t improve. Happens all the time. I’m not saying it’s perfect and that we don’t have things that can be improved but there is definitely something to be said for consistency and understanding.

This time last year the conversation was that we couldn’t hold on to our stars and we didn’t pay enough money. They’ve gone a long way to remedying that and we are going to have an unbelievable new home.

As frustrated as we all are by the lack of speed on the transfers there is no doubt that we’ve consistently done way more right than wrong over the last 5 or 6 years. Happy to wait and see how things go even if we don’t sign anyone.

Of course we have, but given this was the window where we needed to be brave, back the manager, show ambition, encourage our big players to commit their long term futures to the club etc, I don't think "we've done more right than wrong" is going to wash this time.

In other windows the BSoDL have managed to spin things in Levy's favour every time.

We've known for a long time that getting this window right is critical. If he fucks it up by playing the same games everyone else became wise to ages ago then it will be unforgivable.
