Without wading into the lennon debate, I think Harry's comments are mind games, but I think they are Man City mindgames rather than Levy mindgames. We've obviously worked out that Man City are really going to struggle to trim their squad down to the size it needs to be, and that those players pushed out by their new signings are going to be really unhappy, so will want to leave no matter what the prices are.

However, City have been playing silly buggers (or so ITK would have us believe), including allegedly refusing to sell us Micah Richards after supposedly agreeing a deal. It seems like they are trying to mess their opponents up, and we are calling their bluff, knowing that by August 31st they'll have to sell, or risk total squad disharmony with 5 or 6 players unregistered and bloody unhappy about it.

It's similar to the Milner situation really. Everyone knows City can afford to pay what Villa want, and Man City are trying to boss Villa around, and it's all becoming mindgames. Man City are trying to outpsyche their rivals, and we and everyone else are waiting for them to start panicking.

I think that 'Arry and Levy are playing their cards much closer to their chests than some people realise.
I don't think saying £11 million for Ireland it too much is any kind of admission from 'Arry, I just think they don't want anyone we might be diong business with to actually know how far we will go, or get any idea how much money we have.
I think they probably have a fair sized list of targets that they are balancing, in terms of negotiotions.
They are hardly gonna name two (or three) players they want, and say we have £28 million to spend (or whatever).
Let's leave that type of naivity to Carsten Yeung ;-)

Totally agree. HR is sending out messages to imply that we are not prepared to pay over the odds for players. With the new squad sizes, City do need to get some players off the books and so clubs looking to buy from City are in quite a good position in that sense.

Wise words SP! Another thing to note is that if Harry says a player isn't worth £XXXX then he might upset the player. If he re-phrases and says we can't afford £XXXX for a player then the player becomes more understanding and may-be puts pressure on his current team to come up with a more reasonable valuation.

In truth, Good Buddy, I think too many people underestimate just how complex these things can get, don't they. There is a huge amount of kidology and second guessing goes on, and everyone is trying to get the most they can from sales, and pay as little as possible for purchases. It's kinda like human nature, reallyEek

I can't believe Modric got back in the side. Considering he was out of form with a broken leg for so long.

Modric didn't even qualify for the world cup! I blame his broken leg bad form, I can't believe people are picking him.

I personally think Modric has the potential to be world class and better as he gets older, but I don't think there's much to choose between them at the moment. Assists wise they're on a par, goals wise there is one clear winner.

We certainly didn't really miss Modric when he was injured due to Kranjcar being so fucking awesome and sexy. You know when he took the ball, dinked it around Adebayor and punted it through Given's legs? It was because he is so hot and Adebayor just had to stand still in awe to appreciate his beauty. If it was ugly little Modric that goal would never have happened.

But I don't remember us having a barney over that. Gomes yes, Hutton being a world beater yes, but not Modranjcar.

Where Mr Redknapp is concerned:
