There is definitely something weird going on regarding Harry and Levy. I can't work out whether they have a plan, or Harry is trying to work him over in the press into opening up the purse strings.

I am sure it will all become clearer by the time the window shuts.

I think people should look at the wider situation .

Noone is doing any business bar City .

This is something much larger than Harry and Dan

I think clubs will be wanting to do buisness quietly and not have it come out publicly so Man City dont get wind of it and stick in a huge bid. But i do agree that only Man City and Chelsea seem to be the ones linked to players really here

Well he signed a new contract not so long ago, if there was any weirdness from either side, the contract probably wouldn't have happened.

Imagine if he was asked about Ireland and came out with "yeah triffic player, 15 m should do it so we will probably get him next week". Our negotiating position would be pretty poor. Besides which, it's quite posssible that he doesn't think a player who has hardly played for City in 6 months and only really had one outstanding season is not worth 12m and the wages he would be asking.

In fact, any potential signing from City may well be awkward, a) because City are unlikley to want to give us a player we want to sign and b) because their wages are likely to be way overinflated.

Whether we like it or not there are 2 compelling reasons we are likely to do most of our business late in this window; 1) we will know if we are in the CL group stages and 2) clubs will be trimming their squads to 25 players so will get more realistic on values. The whole market needs Citeh to be done so that the true transfer values of players can be established.

Although I am so far a little disappointed with recent rumor's and lack of any actual signing's etc I am sure a signing can't be too far away.

There are some rumored players from past weeks that are 'Out of our price range' but at the end of the day we are not skint and do have funds available should the right realistic target come along.

I just hope that we do sign a major striker sooner or later before they leave for another club or commit their future to their current club.

But it's true, £11m+ for Stephen Ireland, paying J Cole £90,000 a week, paying Raul £80,000 a week is expensive. Especially when we're not even that desperate.

We're really wasting an opportunity that we may never get again. As has been said, if we don't have the money to sign top players that genuinely improve the first 11, then I'd rather we didn't waste what little money we have on a bunch of 30+'s who are no better than what we have whilst also commanding ridiculous wages.

If people on here are getting frustrated imagine how the clubs we are dealing with are feeling just about now, we aren't desperate to offload players nor are we desperate to buy players and none of our players is kicking up for a move so our negotiating position is pretty damn good and time is on our side; as I see it the longer things go on the stronger our hand becomes and pooh poohing daft player valuations reinforces this.

Atleast we're not Villa and waiting for our best player to be sold before we can do anything .. been there, done that. Wasn't fun.

You obviously haven't seen a lot of 'there's's always next year' posts then? He has an agenda.

A manager who was given 40m to spend in his first transfer window, months after his previous club were paid money (5m reportedly) for his services, then had another load of money to spend last summer, and was just given a new contract with a pay rise.....is according to some, taking a sly dig at the man who provided all that.....for being TIGHT!?

I know the world is due to end as we lost in friendly to Villareal, but let's get some perspective here.

I don't believe I'm clever enough to have a hidden agenda. I post comments based on my opinion of events These opinions obviously don't agree with yours, however I don't revert to posting vile, ignorant and childish replies to other peoples views and make myself look like a complete arsehole

Ireland is a quality player (IF he were English....he would be Worldclass but.....!). I fear for his mental toughness...(as we saw in recent years?). He can provide the delicate MF class that is needed at WHL but it is not a 'must' just yet. Levi has a few weeks yet, to mess up? COYS!

i like SM's new mantra - i think its well worth noting

we've had a fair old spend up over the years

it seems sensible this window that, apart from sandro, we only buy what we sell for

we've a stack of younger players, let's use some of them instead of loaning them out

this 30 man 'squad' wouldn't be too bad

gomes; walker dawson king/bassong bale; dos santos kaboul/sandro hudd modric; crouch defoe

subs lennon niko pav cudicini wilson corluka keane naughton rose parrett obika jj button mason BAE o'hara/replacement townsend

Sorry, please don't misunderstand my post

My Girlfriend got access to my account and wrote something stupid - which I then deleted and replaced with that wording

More generally, I think we need a striker, but I'm with you on this

I've been seeing this a lot lately. So because of a couple of poor performances for England when he wasn't fully fit, we're now casually ignoring the previous 5 seasons where he's been our first choice right winger, and for the first 6 months of last season especially, one of the best wingers in Europe? Some things amaze me on this site :-|

You ask a lot of questions that don't appear to require answers.
