Take the last 5 games in isolation and this is relegation form.

Bring back the high intensity press ffs!!!
mate --- really do respect you as a poster but surely this is a bit unrealistic when it is very evident that the group is struggling mightily on the physical side.

Do believe that if Lamela integrates back fully and Wanyama comes back as strong as last season, the press will be back in the coming weeks....Kane will get back to fitness soon and Dembele getting there as well....

We're having a slump. Yet we're still picking up points. Games are coming thick and fast now so plenty of opportunity to work through it and regain our mojo.

Agree with you and I am optimistic about our form turning. I just get pissed off that we go through these troughs because Poch obviously only trusts a certain group in a small squad and runs them into the ground. We need more depth and someone to challenge or fill in for Kane.

We’re not even half way through the season and the squad is threadbare, add in poor form and we’re left playing the same struggling players week in week out. Wanyama, Alderweireld and Lamela are going to take weeks to regain full match sharpness. Rose being a prime example of been way off the pace. Adding players in Jan now looks imperative.

Things are going as I expected it to go so far. We are fighting with Arsenal and Liverpool for 4th place. If we don't make it, it's not the end of the world, I think qualifying for the CL every season is pretty unrealistic anyway.

Basically we’re one point off where we were at this stage last year, and we’re playing at Wembley, had Wanyama out all season, Rose only just Back, Walker gone and Toby out until 2018. Not forgetting we played 35 mins with ten men and didn’t concede.
We are on par with the great and terrible club of Burnley, and the argument you think is valid and proves a point is that the point difference to last year? We have never had a more disappointing run of matches under Pochettino. Ever. This is a really horrible period and I don't know what you are taking to find something positive in the last 6 PL matches, but whatever it is it can't be legal.

Squads hardly threadbare. We will have 2 of our best CB out this Saturday.yet could still put out a back 3 of Dier vertonghen Davies. Arsenal or Liverpool would Bite your arm off for that back 3 when they have everyone fit.if playing 343 we have eriksen son dele Lamela kane For 3 positions. Hardly call that threadbare. CM is one place possibly struggling but have winks and dembele. As the thread title says.

Sometimes I think some of our fans want us to do badly because it validates the narrative they peddle week in week out.

We have two players injured.

Yet a leaky defence, no presence in midfield and no alternatives to any of our creative midfielders (not counting Lamela’s as he’s just returned). Our squad is too small and lacks depth.

I think the current malaise is due to:

1. Huge effort the last two seasons which ultimately proved fruitless. I don't think the players have it in them mentally to "go again".

2. Expecting to win by just turning up. See point 1.

3. Not winning games we should be. See point 2.

4. Heads and motivation going down when we don't win. See point 3.

5. City looking like a force, and I think quite a lot of people/players have already got them nailed on to win it. So I guess a "what's the point?" attitude ensues. See point 1.

Other things that have been detrimental to the season (in varying degrees and in no particular order) thus far in my opinion.

Officiating.
Injuries.
The Book.
Wembley.
Fatigue.
Summer recruitment.
Sissoko.
Kyle Walker fiasco and the knock on effect that causes.

I'm hoping the new stadium might give us a bit of impetus again to recover from point 1.

If we had to endure another season at Wembley, we'd be knackered I reckon. But then, even though the new stadium will be home, it's going to take a while for us to settle in there, too.

If we don't make CL qualification this season, then I would rather we didn't qualify for Europe at all resulting in a proper stab at the league next season. Refreshed, re-motivated, reenergised and in our swank new stadium. What a way to open it that would be.

Over reaction ? The descent in November has been particularly spectacular , upset is understandable. We were 3rd , recently second ,widely considered one of City's main challengers...we go out and beat Real...

The media went mad on us 'we don't fear anybody in Europe' announced players . Gary Neville was creaming his jeans and general media consensus that Spurs were now about to take their place as one of the elite .

Jesus H...look at us now...I daren't look but it may be 6th or 7th...we're still hoping for top 4 , but our rivals are all on a winning spree , while we sputter...the idea we are one of the elite now has quickly evaporated as we get the vibe that something isn't right behind the scenes at the club ....also the slight thought that perhaps we played Real/Dortmund at the right time as they dipped in form .

Think it'd be a bit weird if some here were not reacting to this vertiginous drop in expectations .
