Reports in Italy suggesting Zenit are interested, Spalletti (Zenit coach) is eager to snap him up.

http://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomercat...ldo-mirino-vai-via-piagnone-20769546326.shtml

To paraphrase, it just says that the Roma fans were jeering Osvaldo, Pjanic and Balzaretti at the training ground this week. The fans really want those 3 out as they're accusing them of trying to engineer moves out of Rome. Reports in Italy are saying that Osvaldo should be holding talks with Sabatini this week to discuss his future. If we're not interested I can see him ending up somewhere like Zenit.

If we want to get rid of ade and bae for their bad attitude, i dont see why we would go anywhere near this guy.

I wanted this guy when Berbatov left.

Mainly because he was the closest 'like for like' replacement for Berbs.

I followed him up until he left for Espanyol but have seen bits of him when he returned to Serie A.

Really good player on his day. Can be a tad inconsistent though.

Absolutely bonkers as well.

He be a hit or a miss. Flick a coin.

I like him but he isn't a clinical finisher.

his goals record has been getting better and better. It does sound like an expensive risk though.

Roma (especially Totti) create a lot of chances so he gets more opportunities compared to when he was in La Liga.

He's a classy player like Berbatov and Adebayor but Berbatov didn't waste chances like the other two.

His temperament doesn't concern me, most of the squad are too nice.

Besides, IF he does get out of line Sandro can MMA his ass. ;)

Osvaldo has been the centre of attention at the Stadio Olimpico ever since the Coppa Italia defeat to Lazio.
Osvaldo was said to be furious at the decision of caretaker manager Aurelio Andreazzoli to keep him on the bench until the final fifteen minutes of the Eternal City derby in the final.
He was furious with the decision considering he was the clubs top goalscorer last season with 17 goals.
But the notoriously passionate fans of the Giallorossi have had enough of the forwards controversial behaviour.
Ultras have been at the training ground during pre-season protesting against players such as Osvaldo and Daniele de Rossi for their performances in that abject defeat.
Osvaldo has come in for the bulk of the criticism with one of the banners unveiled by the Ultras reading ‘Osvaldo is a coward’.
There was hope that the arrival of new manager Rudi Garcia as well as new players such as Kevin Strootman and Maicon could quell some of this discontent but the Ultras are clear on the players they want to see out of the club; and Osvaldo tops that list.
It may be cowardly for Osvaldo to run but I personally would not want to be on the wrong side of Roma’s impassioned support.
So perhaps the Premier League could be his haven.

he seems a fiery character, but i'd rather have a fiery one than a lethargic one i.e. ade. he's not like balotelli causing trouble for nothing, seems it's all about frustrations on the pitch

See, I love a striker with some fire in their belly. It tells me the guy truly loves the game and will always give it his all. He had a quarrel with Totti because he took a penalty over him (Sacrilege at Roma, but he also missed it) and then got pissed at Lamela for not getting him the ball.

The only thing with that is there is a need for some restraint. He had 3 red cards last year (1 for Italy, 1 in the Coppa Italia and a Second-yellow red in Serie A). That's the major concern with being a fiery character. We saw how they can change a match when Adebayor went off against Arsenal. In hindsight, that right there might have kept us from CL.

I think Osvaldo would be a hit in the EPL; he's got the talent. I just would love to see him maintain that same desire but also to learn how to do it in a way that won't put the team at risk. Something that will be hard to teach a 27 year old that's set in his ways.

If we are in for this guy, in your opinion, who is the better option out of him and Soldado? Pablo looks like he has the physique, but im not sure if he is a natural predator so can only assume there is more to his game, where as Soldado seems more predatory, but he also reminds me of a young Keane, and I don't think that's the type of striker we need right now.

It depends what we want out of our striker, really. Age isn't a factor here as Osvaldo is 27, Soldado in 28.

Soldado is built around scoring goals, simply put. He will always try to get on the end of crosses and while he does have solid hold up play, it's not what I would consider is overall best attribute. He's intelligent off the ball and if the players delivering the ball to him are on the same page, he could score bucketloads for us as our target man.

As for Osvaldo, he's a more technical player. He can pass, hold up play and he's capable of the ridiculous goal. He's also not afraid to get on the end of crosses but his finishing sometimes can leave something to be desired.

In the end, Osvaldo would be a more creative striker option, but Soldado is probably going to end up scoring more goals. It all comes down to if you value a striker that can score a decent amount but provide opportunities to other players or one that has a primary focus of bagging goals.

With AVB having Falcao at Porto, I think he would elect for Soldado.
