OK gonna hold my hands up here, I used to watch every game religously but during the latter half of last season due to other commitments my viewing was sporadic at best.

Now given this my question is what in the name of god happened to Palacios?

At one stage he was the golden boy and everybody was tripping over themselves now he's on his way out and nobody cares..even more than that people are happy to get rid of him???

When exactly did he start going downhill? Was he never as good as made out by Spurs fans or was it the injury/personal stuff that ruined him?

Just seems interesting to me the way he fell from grace all of a sudden.

Nothing happened to him. He joined, we instantly got better, we then finished 4th with him being possibly our most influential player.

Harry then decided due to winning 3 games without him at the end of that season ,that he wasn't a nailed on starter, despite the 30 games previously where he had been exceptional.

The next season we finished 5th and looked infinitely more fragile - apart from games like in the San Siro where he dominated a European giants midfield - the penny didn't drop, and now Stoke have got a phenomenal signing for themselves.

Pretty much this, he hasn't shown anything like the quality he showed when he joined since that night. Very sad but also very understandable.

I agree with this

It is a fucking myth that his form tailed off. He was outstanding in one of his rare starts at the San Siro.

Stu[id, stupid decision to let him go. Gutted.

He hasn't been the same for sure, but still a lot better squad player to have than Jenas.

Sad to see him go.

I think Sandro happened. Wilson got forced down the order and struggled to get games. Then he struggled, as many do, with playing irregularly.

Its a shame because I think a midfield of Sandro and Wilson, with Modric or VDV ahead of them, is the way to go in away games. I guess Parker comes and takes Wilson's slot, and Parker is more consistent with the ball than Wilson.

Since he forgot how to pass to a member of his own team.

I'm not sure how many times this statement has been proved as myth, but once again, this is factually incorrect.

You're basing it on a few memorably horrendous passes, but the reality is that he has an excellent pass completion rate.

Agree with those who think letting Wilson go is a bad decision, even more so given the current injury situation.

Agreed but this is a prime example if when stats don't tell the hole truth. He didn't give the ball away often last season but when he did it was virtually always a hospital ball that immediately put us under pressure or led to an opposition chance. He was trying too many of year Hollywood balls and didn't have the skill to do it. Then he became a liability. At least n harry's eyes obviously.
Now I'm of the opinion that this isn't a reason to sell a great defensive midfielder as he can be told not to try those balls in matches and keep it simple. Is a shame he has gone but I'd be even more pissed if we'd have kept jj.

Modric, Parker, Huddlestone and Sandro are all better options in my opinion and with Pienaar, VDV and Livermore all able to fill in there in one position or another, it was a position we could afford to sell one or two in. Palacios was out of form and not exactly the youngest but could still fetch a decent fee for us, and O'Hara wasn't happy with not getting enough games. The two that left were understandable in my opinion and I'm happy with our central midfield options.

His brother got murdered, was never the same again

His brother's body was found in May 09 that was the same season he joined us.

So while it was deeply saddening to found out about his brother being dead he played very well in the 09/10 season so I don't think it fair to claim that his brothers death then had an effect on his 10/11 form.

I actually suspect it was more injury and lack of minutes on the pitch that effected his form last season and suspect he will be a top player for Stoke.

Since he forgot how to pass to a member of his own team.

Complete myth. If I remember correctly Palacios had a better pass completion record than Huddlestone.
