That's fine, wouldn't ask that. Its just my opinion that when people bag him for it, they should give some stick, and even more, to the players who aren't doing anything in the first place (such as his midfield accomplices).

I agree. Few of our midfielders deserve much credit today. The criticism Parker is getting is not a fair balance compared to the others.

So we go to a 433 today because it worked for 20 mins last game. to me it looked like 4123 with Hudd the 1 and Parker and Dembele filling the 2. If Parker isnt the deepest of the midfielders then he shouldnt start... I still believe he should start, but play him in the correct position he offers nothing going forward

The more I see Holtby, the more I think he should be playing instead of Parker. He hustles the opposition like Parker, and what he lacks in defensive ability he more than makes up with technical skill, and given Parker keeps pushing forward why wouldn't you prefer someone who can pass and shoot?

If Parker isn't the defensive midfielder, which he struggles to do simply because he will go chasing the ball and vacates his holding position too readily, then put Huddlestone in there to do the passing and Holtby to do the chasing and getting forward. That would free up Dembele to push a lot further forward, and if the Belgian is out for the Saints game put Siggy in there, he will offer a goal threat.

At the moment we aren't using Parker in his best role, and its unfair on the player and bad for the team.

was good last season i will give him that, but dont want to see him again this season, and then sandro will be back which that would mean sell him, he is at he's best for teams like stoke not spurs

Last year, we had modric and VdV, including a willing Ade, Lennon right and Bale left.. Parker had one job, break up play and shield the back four, which he did excellently.. Harry had him playing his best position, and very simple. Soon as he got it, he gave it to Modric who did the next step.

So many times last year when Modric or whoever, was looking for a pass to Parker, he would hold his hands up as if to say 'I don't want it, you keep it'..

This year is so very different for him, and it's not his fault. We are not as good this year, we have lost major players.

Our problem is we didnt make CL last year. That has cost us immensely.

I thought Holtby would have been a good replacement for Parker, but watching him today all he done was give away free kick after free kick. I thought Holtby was trequartista type player not a water carrier :-(

I think he's struggling with the pace of the Premier League. In Germany he had a lot more space to work with crafting out loads of opportunities for Huntelaar and Farfan but in the EPL when you play high tempo games with compacted midfields, particularly when you're just sitting in their half trying to carve an opening, it's a hell of a lot harder.

I'm desperately hoping he'll come good, but if he doesn't at least we didn't spend a lot for him.

been saying all season. parker was made to look better by modric. He is a good midfielder, but not one good enough for aspiring top 4 clubs. Extremeley limited and ruins the way we play by slowing the ball down.

I MISS THIS GUY :(
I miss that team, Modric the orchestrator, VDV the perfect number 10 and a fit and firing Ade. We won't have a better team than we had last year for a long long time. Imagine if we'd added Lloris and Vertonghen to that. Such a shame we were denied a CL spot.

He played so advanced last year towards the end that Modric was holding back. He's doing the same again, very undisciplined from him. If you're going to play an attacking role you have to play the ball forward more. Even when he was getting the ball 40 yards away he'd do it sideways or back to Thudd, who had to play that deeper role

I actually disagree with this when i think about it. Firstly Modric was leaving anyway and Ade wouldnt have been any different this year. VDV maybe would be more inclined to stay but he left for personal reasons. Were Hamburg in the CL this year?

Secondly and fundamentally we probably would have kept HR. For me the club seems to have more direction, class and pulling power with AVB in charge; so in hindsight i think it wasnt such a bad thing for Chelsea to win that last flukey game?

For me if Parkers isn't a disciplined defensive midfield player, theres no point playing him. Attacking wise Parker gets in the way and really his passing is division one level side and back ways...Livermore is a better passer of the ball.

I'm not saying those guys would have stayed, and im not convinced Harry had another season after the crumble last year (ie, he nearly cocked it right up, but held on to 4th).

What im saying, is with CL, we may have seen Moutinho in for Modric, and maybe Eriksen for VdV. Which is possibly what we will now see this year, if we can hold on in there. Obv Ade has been a massive disappointment. Huge even.

Sorry, hold up. Was Parker poor yesterday was he? Was he culpable for any of the Wigan goals? Was it the 4 misplaced passes he made in his time on the pitch? Did he not tackle enough? Because he took on 2 shots and missed? Do elaborate just why he was so terrible yesterday, certainly in comparison to the rest of the midfield, already weakened when Dembele came off injured.

Maybe some of you think be played badly because he was subbed off when we were chasing the game, I'm unsure...maybe it's something else

I see Sargeant Meat Curtains has photoshopped an attempt at being funny to critique him, which ended up as equally shit as your ironic name (as you've most likely never got near a fanny since you fell out of one), well done mate. That's really good, maybe your parents will put it up on the fridge for you.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the personnel we lost in the summer (and their thrifty replacements) have completely changed the midfield dynamic, along with the manager. This burdgeoning witchhunt is starting to get on my tits to be quite frank.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't see what Holtby brings to the party.. He runs around a lot, plays short, square or backward passes to where they have already come from. Gets caught in possession because he has no pace and I've not seen have a shot at goal or got himself into a position to score. I agree that Parker limitations have been highlighted this year, but Holtby is not the answer

That's a bit of an overreaction. The film photoshop has been going on here for ages. Players aren't infallible; even fan favourites will end up becoming sorry shadows of their former selves. King was my favourite player and I grew up with him as ever present in our lineup, unfortunately the tail end of last year, he lost his legs and couldn't hack it. We all realised he would never be as good as he was. Parker has never been 1/4 the player that King is, however now he's lost his legs, his weaknesses tactically and technically are exposed. Heart is nothing if you don't have the physicality to back it up. We have to let go and realise that he's not good enough for us. I don't think he was good enough for us anyway. A clueless, needless by Redknapp and IMO a waste of 5.5 mil when we had the superior Sandro already playing for us.
Time to let go Paolo.

The Sandro that was crocked for half of last season, and half of this?

You're surpassing yourself.

Punkisback, you've made your forever negative opinions on Parker transparent since well before he even arrived at Tottenham, so I'm going to dismiss them as I've never agreed with you.

You sit waiting for any form of critique on him to jump all over and chime in to agree with, it's very obvious and pretty shit if you ask me. After fucking years lets just agree to disagree, don't be surprised when I do.

Critic and praise is given when it's due. It's rational to evaluate the squad and players and look at areas where we can improve and the quality of players that can help us improve. Save for a spell on the bench at Chelsea, Parker has only played for mid table/relegation battling clubs. He has never had the technical ability and footballing intelligence to succeed at a top 4 club; he shines in battling teams as one of the most determined scrappers as he has heart. However if heart isn't married with skill and technique a player will never be good enough for a Champions league chasing team in central midfield. His limitations are now exposed more than ever. Parker has only played for us for two seasons, he's not Mr Tottenham or the heartbeat of our side as you make him out to be. Far more important and influential players are currently at or have been at the club.
