LOL at the Chimbonda haters.

When Hutton has been voted RB of the season by his fellow pro's then get back to me. Until then, Hutton has done jack shit.

Too many people have been blinded by the fact that the guy's an absolute penis. But the fact remains that Chimbo was excellent in his first season at Spurs and should have got that vote again IMO. And after a shaky start (and he wasn't alone in that) was decent last season, especially considering that he spent much of it playing out of position.

Hutton was good last season, but the jury's still out on whether he's the huge step up in quality that many make him out to be.

Neville and finnan were both bettr RB's the season he won the award probably becasue he stood out more compared to his teammates. The players vote is a farce anyway, often players just get other players to fill them in and sometimes even politically vote as many ex-pro footballers have testified to on radio. our own Gary stevens and thier ian wright have both said the voting was a joke. One year Ray parlour got the entire ar5ean1 team to vote for players in every position from swidons relegated team. The world footballer award is better as it's only coaches and Captains but the best of the lot is the Ballon dor becasue it's journalists. Thast why iti s rightly held as the most prestigous... the jermain defoes and lee bowyers of this world are cut out the loop.

Chimbonda was good till he had a piont to prove. he was good the first season till the Chelase game and then he thought he'd arrived and from then on his performances were littered with iresponsibility and underahcievment. A complete waste of his ablilty. An untrustworthy defender that you can't cater for tactically. Thats why i hate him. thats why Stalteri would get my vote.

as it happens we have ability and attitude mixed into one Scot so we don't have to have either.

tRiKS... want babies yet? :hump:

I couldn't care less than Chimbonda is "a penis". I care about the fact he's a vastly overrated player, who's cost our team countless goals over the last 18 months. That, my friends, is why I can't stand the guy.

My only guess is that Jol would have dropped Chimbonda for Stalteri after a few poor performances. It's not a guess that Jol had less power than he should have had and certainly less than Ramos has now. An example: Jol said our squad wasn't good enough, DL and DC disagreed. But JR says the same and DL and DC agree. A direct contrast between the two!! Ramos had more power and so the only answer si Jol had less. If you think Ramos has the right amount of power then in the same breath you conceded Jol didn't. I am right.

I've said on previous posts on Chimbonda when he was moved to CB and LB, that because he was unsure of himself he concentrated more and we saw a better more responsible Chimbonda. Something unfortunately he loses when he thinks he's got it nailed.

My Ledley King would know what situations he would have to cover Stalteri in so i could coach a shape and change of shape. you're ledley King would have no chance when or where to stand when Chimbonda was defending. Also my Aaron lennon would get the ball early and to feet. My arron leenon plays better with stalteri again becasue he knows when he's going to get it and when he isn't. I improve two positions in one by choosing Stalteri. I dread to think what a mess you'll make of the left hand side. not to mention the CM pairing and strikers. Eek

Ramos has more power than Jol? Possibly, but what has that got to do with team selection? Are you suggesting that someone told Jol he had to play Chimbonda even though he preferred Stalteri? If you are then like I said before that is big hairy bollocks, don't believe it for a minute. If you're not then the argument over power has no place in this discussion.

You are not.

A plausable theory but still a theory none the less. The arrival of Hutton is just as plausable if I agreed with you on this. I don't.

My Ledley King is marking the centre forward, not covering a hardworking, spirited, but ultimately limited and error prone right back. My Aaron Lennon is not spending most of the time back in his own half covering for the aforementioned right back but for the most part is in the other half terrorising the opposition's defence. :)

I'm still waiting for the reams of examples when Chimbonda fucked up...

Not exactly sad to see him go, I'm not sure if he would have gone if Sunderland hadnt offered a reputed 56k a week!!!!

With Hutton, I dont think we need an established player as back up, much better that Gunter gets a chance, and cash in on Chimbonda

If rumours that Hutton has done his ankle are correct and he will be out for three months - the move could well be pulled!

Is it not the young lad Hutton who plays for the reserves that supposed to be out for 12 weeks?

Also read somewhere we got £8m for TT and Chimbo, would that be £5M Chimbo £3 TT. If so not bad considering TT has only one year left on his contract...

The Club can announce that we have reached agreement for the permanent transfer of Pascal Chimbonda to Sunderland.

Defender Pascal joined us from Wigan Athletic in August 2006, going on to make 98 appearances, scoring four goals.
We wish Pascal well for the future.

Sunderland have completed the signing of full-back Pascal Chimbonda from Tottenham.

The 29-year-old defender, who can play in both right and left-back positions as well as in the centre of defence, has penned a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light after the two clubs agreed an uncdisclosed fee.

Roy Keane, the Sunderland manager, said: "Pascal is one of those rare players who can play anywhere across the back line and that will be invaluable to us, so naturally we\'re very pleased to secure his services.

"He has a lot of Premier League experience which can only be a plus for us and he'll give us more options at the back, creating more competition for places there, so all-in-all it's a fantastic signing for us."

Good luck Chimbo, I always enjoyed watching you play - felt you brought some style and composure to our right flank.

Good player with a questionable attitude i think his ability to play across the defence will be missed. We seem to be getting rid of an awful lot of players i hope we start bringing a few in soon.
