You are correct it was henry that socred i assume everyone would know that. I didn't say Adeybyor scored i said he shrugged off Stalteris for their equaliser. That's pretty reasonable and conventional english in that context.

further correct examples would be:

  • Jenas crossed theball for Spurs' injury time winner against chelsea in the CC final
  • Lennon beat three players for Spurs' second goal
  • Adeybyor shrugged off Stalteri for thier equaliser
and you young man are very welcome for the lesson in contextual vernacular.

I mentioned one because I only mentioned one of Chimbondas, i was being fair but there are a few for both. But the type of mistake Stalteri's make can be predicted and therefore tactically prevented/dealt with. The type of mistake Chimbonda makes are unpredictable and so impossible to prevent deal with. As a fellow defender I'd want predictable and good over unpredictable and v.good. As a manager i'd want the same.

jol bought him for 6m and he started off well but when he dropped form there was no way he'd drop him after the fuss he made getting him. If jol had more power at spurs like he should have, I suspect Stalteri would have come back into the fold. I only guess, just like i guess that by then Stalteri's level of commitment to spurs would be hard to rescue.

Ramos signed a RB that was better than either stalteri or Chimbonda. Chimbonda proved a better utility player and (as above) Stalteri's frame of mind would hardly be great. In many ways Ramos had no choice. Also i may have taken a few months to realise that even he couldn't get this particular slack jawed leopard to change his spots.

I am an excellent fan and would be an outstanding manager... My team would kick your teams arse thats for sure.

Triks there's a lot of guesswork in there mate. Are you seriously suggesting that Jol wanted to drop Chimbonda for Stalteri but didn't feel he could?!! I think that is big hairy boll*cks. Who or what prevented him? Think through the ramifications of what you're suggesting.....

I already said that I preferred Hutton over the other two.

So Chimbonda was a better utility player? Does that mean he somehow banished his 'unpredictable mistakes' when he was wasn't playing at RB?

If you played Stalteri in it you'd have no chance. :)

As The Goat said, Chimbonda's "cleared out his desk" and said goodbye to everyone so something must be close.

he is worth more than that he is a top right back one of the best we have had imo. his attitude is questionable but on the pitch when he puts his mind to it he is sstill one of the best rbs in the league.

Chimbonda's the most overrated player at Spurs, and without doubt a weak link. Best news all summer :)

From football 365 with Chim Qoutes

Chimbonda said: "I can confirm that I travelled to meet Roy Keane today at Sunderland's training ground. I was extremely impressed with what he had to say.
"His honesty and openness really were fantastic and I particularly like the plans he has for Sunderland Football Club. The opportunity excites me and I hope he was impressed with what I had to say.
"Now it is down to the club to sort out the personal terms and I will wait to see what happens."

My only guess is that Jol would have dropped Chimbonda for Stalteri after a few poor performances. It's not a guess that Jol had less power than he should have had and certainly less than Ramos has now. An example: Jol said our squad wasn't good enough, DL and DC disagreed. But JR says the same and DL and DC agree. A direct contrast between the two!! Ramos had more power and so the only answer si Jol had less. If you think Ramos has the right amount of power then in the same breath you conceded Jol didn't. I am right.

I've said on previous posts on Chimbonda when he was moved to CB and LB, that because he was unsure of himself he concentrated more and we saw a better more responsible Chimbonda. Something unfortunately he loses when he thinks he's got it nailed.

My Ledley King would know what situations he would have to cover Stalteri in so i could coach a shape and change of shape. you're ledley King would have no chance when or where to stand when Chimbonda was defending. Also my Aaron lennon would get the ball early and to feet. My arron leenon plays better with stalteri again becasue he knows when he's going to get it and when he isn't. I improve two positions in one by choosing Stalteri. I dread to think what a mess you'll make of the left hand side. not to mention the CM pairing and strikers. Eek

If we got anything less than £4M for Chimbonda we've been riped off. No matter what some may think of Chimbo, IMO his a top rb and a very versatile player. If he were to stay his exactly the sort of quality experience needed within the squad.

LOL at the Chimbonda haters.

When Hutton has been voted RB of the season by his fellow pro's then get back to me. Until then, Hutton has done jack shit.

He may have been voted that for when at Wigan, but at tottenham chimbonda has done jack shit, Hutton has been the better of the 2 last season, and Hutton was with us only half a season.
