I know some people give fans shit for not caring about the Europa league, but with some of the team selections, style of play and general commitment to the competition shown by the club and the players, is it really any wonder? Most of the time it looks like a training session, whether we're winning or losing. There is no excitement for the competition from top to bottom at Spurs, which is pretty damning and quite sad really, given we're hardly CL big hitters.

The europa league winners getting a place in the champs league could change that

That's such a shame. I would loved for you to have educated us all on how VDV was such a poster boy for passion and loyalty.
He moved back to Hamburg to try and save his marriage.

Granted this all went down before he hit his wife at a NYE Party and ended up with his best mates ex missus.

Likely see more passion from the players as soon as we start seeing more passion from the fans at games.

I think people are confusing passion and loyalty. We all know the days of one club players are pretty much gone.

What people are refering to with VDV and Parker for example, are players who leave everything on the pitch. Players with winning mentalites, who hate losing. We don't seem to have that at all, which is one of the reasons why imo why we've been spanked 3-0, 5-0, 5-1 and 6-0 this season despite being in the top six.

VDV constantly tells the media in Germany how much he misses us. He did say he wanted to go Hamburg (mainly for his wife), he did have a connection with the fans which a lot of our current crop do not.

“I really loved it” at Tottenham, he said. “I still miss it sometimes: the great people there, the stadium, the fans, it’s something special. But I wanted to go back to Hamburg and the chance came and I took it. I’m also happy here, but I do miss Spurs sometimes.”
I'd travel to Hades without enough for a return journey for that woman.

And him, tbf.

I think we should stop judging others by our standards.

Players are only human. Even Sandro.

He showed passion when he was here
yes but you struggled to talk about passion as anything past goal celebrations, that being (in VDV's case) kissing the badge and kissing pensioners. You did talk about "playing for the shirt" and loyalty and I'm questioning how you could possibly associate VDV with that, if in fact you were. Perhaps I misunderstood.

You do understand that the ratings (aside from i) are used to rate opinions, not facts.

lol, yeah, didn't know about any of that. I was totally removed from Tottenham business during the 2011/12 season and I wasn't on here at all so I missed all the VDV departure stuff. If that's the case, then we released him on compassionte grounds at the very least, so why the hell do so many people say, "stupid fucking Levy, he sold our best player (Bale included too) and now look at our team." It would take a bastard of a club to force a player to stay while their marriage is falling to pieces and a TRUE bastard of a fan to want and expect their club to do that.

lol, yeah, my above reply to you should explain why I gave you a WTF rating to your post, it's because I was toally shocked! I actually said WTF to myself. Anyhow, it's a neutral rating.

That Alan Hansen quote continues to ring true. When we needed a big performance far too many of them disappear into their shells. So little pace in the middle of the park. To go out with a whimper like that was just oh so familiar.

Bump 2

TBH, there's not really a point to bumping this thread, as it's obvious that the players have no passion. At least Tim sees that.
