Thankfully Paul Gascoigne has not died however this thread probably should.

====================================

I can't stress enough that this rumor has no official confirmation but the rumor going around Tyneside journalists and photographers as well as the Picture Desks of two major photo agencies is that Gazza had died.

Police statement is due to be made soon and that is all the details I have.

Again, I am only passing on the rumor I am hearing. If this is sadly the case then I will be deeply upset as growing up Gazza was my boyhood hero.

Here's hoping the rumor is nonsense.

Thanks, I think, for passing on.

I just pray it is not true.

No

His daughter said "he's dead" meaning that the fun-loving, Gazza we know is "dead" now because of all his mental problems.

It was taken out of context and everywhere is running the story like he's literally dead.

FUN-LOVING football legend Paul Gascoigne is “dead”, his TV star stepdaughter Bianca revealed last night.

She said the wisecracking prankster loved by millions is gone for good because of the demons tormenting his mind.

Telly star and model Bianca Gascoigne, 21, says her stepdad will never again be the prankster who won the hearts of fans all over the world.

The former England star is seriously ill with depression, and Bianca admits his family is powerless to help him.

Football legend Gazza, 40, looked a shadow of his former self yesterday as he briefly emerged for the first time since he was taken away by police at the weekend for his latest bout of psychiatric treatment.

Looking pale and thin, he walked to a nearby shop to buy cigarettes and a car magazine before returning to The Priory in Roehampton, south-west London, where he is expected to remain indefinitely.

Bianca said last night: “We have done everything in our power to try to get my dad through this hard time. I really thought that he was getting better, but at the weekend he took a turn for the worse.

“My dad is seriously ill and it is something we are powerless to help with. We pray that he will overcome his troubles.”

The former Newcastle, Tottenham and Rangers star agreed to be admitted for treatment at the weekend after police found him trying to drown himself in a bathtub in a London hotel.

Back in February, he spent three weeks in a mental hospital after suffering a breakdown.

His downfall will devastate football fans across the globe, who loved the game’s great joker.

He once showed a ref a yellow card and pulled down the shorts of England team-mate Paul Ince, now 40, in front of photographers.

A family pal said last night: “It’s a tragedy that the old wise-cracking Gazza is no more. His sense of humour may have landed him in trouble, but it raised a smile from people who loved football.

“Now it seems we may never experience that lust for life again.”

This is from May by the way so not sure why it's all coming up now:

Literally all the information I have is in the post. Given I've heard nothing else I am going to guess that thankfully this is just a bad rumor.

To be honest it might put him out of his misery. He needs a serious sports physcologist to help him come to terms with the fact that he is/will never be the player he was and to help him get his life on track. I don't think a normal one has the expertise for it - I doubt it is that rare that a great player/athlete turns to drink and their life falls down the drain pipe when their careers fall apart or end.

I think Gazza had this drinking theme all through his career, it just got worse when he had more time on his hands.

I have always felt very sorry for Gazza. His case was never the same as that waster Best, whose clusterfuck of a life was all of his own making.

Gascoigne was clearly suffering from mental illness (bipolar or something similar) from early on and it went undiagnosed due to his lifestyle, millionaire footballer with crazy lifestyle. He was clearly not able to deal with his life in the public eye due to these mental problems.

And his daughter is full of shit. She (and possibly her mother) wanted nothing but his money and the cache of fame that he brought.

Please God this isn't true..............!!

On another (music) forum I read, someone has said that there's a rumour going round that Paul Gascoigne has been found dead in Newcastle. I sincerely hope it's totally wrong........

Nothing in the news at least.

Someone mentioned this on 'You're on Sky Sports' and the presenter said that it categorically was not true. Here's hoping he's right.

Just had a look on one of the Newcastle forums and they are saying that it is a false rumour that was started on a West Ham forum.

Apparently someone from Metro Radio just spoke with Gazza??

If true then the Spammers have stooped to very low levels indeed.

Daniel Wynne, who is the head of the Spurs Trust, has posted on FTL that this is absolute rubbish and he says he's spoken to people who would know if anything bad had happened.
