well bentley is deffo gone from those comments, not even a minor "i want to keep him"

Pav was always gonna go, I think we can get good money too Its gonna be heartbreaking because I love Pav but as long as its not Kenwyne Jones replacing him It would be good business.

I just hope we are keeping Pav and Bale, Pav for sure looks poor recently - since Bro at home - but it's first season in new country, he has very strong foot and can score outside the box if he is inform.

Bentley, i would like him but my only complain he likes to dribble the ball too much and he don't has enough pace, which isn't good for our style of play.

if it's up to me, i would sell Zokora, Bentley, Giovani & Bent... and listen offers for Cudicini, Chimbonda.

Going by Redknapp's comments I get the impression Bentley wants to stay and fight for his place. He always seems in good spirits on the bench. However Redknapp seems to be saying he'll never get a place and should start thinking about moving on. Although how can you stay and fight when your manager says something like that? Redknapp will rather play random formations and on-loan kids than play him.

other comments by Redknapp :

"We haven't got a bottomless pit and we need to balance the books, sell one or two and in his words be creative in the transfer market. I know three players I really want to bring in and if I could get them then we will be very strong next year. But we need to sell a couple of players and move a couple on."

source

it is clear that he has been told by Levy to sold some of the bench before asking new transfer budget.

Random formations? I think you'll find that was the twat in charge before. You know, the one who managed less than a point a game January-October.

I don't get the impression Bentley has wanted to fight for his place, although I appreciate how he has kept quiet about his lack of playing time (please learn Hudd, Bent, Zokora, Taarabt). He was our worst player in the reserve games barring the last one where he scored two against a U19 Arse side.

Bale was left out of our squad completely for a long stretch, but has at least worked hard in the reserve games and managed to play his way back onto our bench, then a few games later managed to get a start at Everton where he seized his chance. While Bentley hasn't gotten any playing time, he hasn't really deserved any. Pav got his start because of his performance against the Spammers and his preference to play at home, and Keane and Defoe are practically undroppable atm.

We have no idea how he's doing in training, or whether his personal problems that he spoke of earlier have been solved. Harry knows more than us and if he thought Bentley would help us in a game, he would send him on.

Pogrebnyak has the height and strength to do well here possibly, but iirc doesn't he have a bit of an attitude problem?

He publically ridiculed Blackburn and Bolton in January ("I could only laugh at it - I dream of playing in England but not at a club like Blackburn") and has stated that he wants to play with Arseshavin at the gooners, and prior to that he claimed he was wanted to go to Liverpool.

Doesn't mean he wouldn't do well here, but I'd be worried he'd sulk for a move as soon as he started doing well or had to sit on the bench. Moreover Hiddink prefers Pav atm over him, and Hiddink knows what he's doing.

Once again, I think we went after the wrong Russian forward...

Maybe we could send Pav to Zenit as a makeweight?

Good call. Or the dream move, which would be to give, say, 10m + Pav for Gomes. Hugely unlikely that one, though.

I reckon Pav actually really wants to succeed in the Prem, and Big Sam will want a tall goalscorer for next season. Actually, so will just about every manager in the bottom half. But it would be dreadful if we just swapped him for RSC or KJones, which is where I think the papers will go with this story.

Am I the only one thinking about how much money we stand to loose here? Levy tells Harry to sell in order to buy, how much would we get for them both £15-£20m? compare that to the £26m (or somewhere around there) we paid for both or was the deals based on performances/appearances, either way we still stand to make a loss no?

bentley is defo on his way out that's for sure. For me it's a shame but he hasn't really done it in a spurs shirt so it seems only right to cash in and spend the money elsewhere.
Pav is touch and go for me as i still think bent will be the first out the door.

as a side note how comes harry has gone from needing 1 or 2 players to knowing that he needs 3?

sadly you're right about this, but not Pogrebnyak, it should Arshavin, because we needed Arshavin to fill Keane departure in summer, as Pav is another striker like Bent/Campbell.

but the circumstances in final day didn't help, if we know we wouldn't land Arshavin in last day with Campbell as a part of Berba deal, I'm sure Ramos wouldn't sign Pav.

Its a good thing you are not our manager then is int it? You are just so hypocritical it beggers belief. Pav playing poorly but you want to give him a chance making excuses about first time in this country etc, but Dos Santos who has never been given the chance as Pav, and on the rare occasion that has played look the part you want to sell? BTW its his first year in this country as well in case you didnt notice.

Another example of you not putting your head in gear is why do you want to get rid of Cudicini, our more than adequate cover for Gomes?

Smells of hypocrisy and double standards but whether or not it is a crap post I will leave it to others to decide.

not exactly a big surprise that bentley would be on his way. once lennon signed the new contract that was going to be it. i know we will never find out but would be very interesting to know how much we paid for him up front and if any of the fee was appearance based because if the rumours are true it might not be the dearest mistake we've made

Such as...?

And why would spending £30m on a player be any less of a gamble than spending £15m each on two players?

Who is going to buy Bentley though?

Everton - haven't got the money
Villa - Have already got Milner and Young
Newcastle - Will be relegated
Man City - Already have SWP
W.Ham - Don't have the money

These are the only clubs he would probably consider aswell. I don't see any club abroad either being interested or able to afford him. He might have to sit on our bench or go on loan somewhere.

They're all gambles.

For every berbatov (a big gamble) you get a Pavlyuchenko. Bentley was quality at Blackburn, but it hasn't happened for him here.

Random formations? I think you'll find that was the twat in charge before. You know, the one who managed less than a point a game January-October.

Redknapp is beginning to be just as bad. 5-3-2 against one of the least attacking sides in the Prem? Then pushed Hutton on to RW? Or 4-4-2 with Keane on the LW, Modric on the RW?

Redknapp said himself he's trying something new he though about during training. If he thought it would improve the team, fair enough. However its becoming apparent he's doing it just to avoid playing Bentley. That's crazy IMO. We had one of the Premiership's best RWs on the bench and he's using all these makeshift players instead.

Harry wants his 3 players, know he has to sell to get them and so actually wants to offload Bentley for ~£15m, and others around that.
