I'm not sure where the idea that Pav is a really good shot comes from, to me he seems quite wasteful. Even at Euro '08 he had 26 shots and scored 3 goals with 0 assists (statistics boo/horray yadda yadda), and everyone agrees he was better in that tournament than he's ever been for us.

Good, he's shit and lazy. Even Redknapp and Hiddink have admitted as much.

Me too. £64 million we raised by selling Berbatov, Keane and defoe. You'd have thought we might have been a little bit more creative when spending it wouldn't you ?

Very true. I suppose Pav is the only striker we haven't resigned, yet. If Pav wants to go, let him. We've got 3 good strikers left. Can Gio step up? It can't hurt to give him a try when Pav sods off in january.

Would be nice to have no strikers whinging about lack of playing time for once.

I feel for Pav as he is a good player, but at the end of the day if he hasn't being showing enough hunger in training why should Harry pick him??... Personally I feel no matter how bad a players situation is, he shouldn't address it publically as he is under the employment of the club, also saying he wants to leave publically shows a fairly poor attitude from Pav... So I guess we just have to say bye and thanks for the memories

He was our first choice striker for a large chunk of last season! I'm not saying he won't be a good player in the future but for us he was shocking!

His goal to game ratio for us last season was on par with Berbato's first season for us. He was far from shocking, in fact he played a lrage part in us reaching a cup final (did you forget this bit already??)!

To say he was shocking shows your total ignorance.

Unfortunately it shows your ignorance as a lot of his goals were against were against lower class opposition in the cups, if your going to use statistics at least put them in context...

And if you would like me to do that for you, 5 goals in 28 league apperances equals a shocking return for a £14.5 million 28 year old international striker!

4 of his 5 goals however were of vital importance to our league season.

Header against Bolton in our first league win
Last minute winner against Liverpool
Only goal of the game against Blackburn 1-0
Only goal of the game against West Ham 1-0

That's 12 points in which he was directly involved in winning for us.

He also scored in every domestic cup game he played for us in except the final, so he was more than vital in getting us to Wembley again.

If you put these statistics into context, you will find that he was actually of great importance to our season.

We expect more from him, but how can he do that sat behind Harry rather than on the pitch?

All this is true, but the fact remains that he he's short of pace (and without the guile, vision and creativity that Teddy had to compensate in spades), can't muscle his way past defenders, and isn't particularly good in the air. His passing isn't that accurate and incisive, and he creates bugger all. Whenever he's come on as sub he really hasn't looked like a man with a point to prove. The notion that he's an improvement on even a sub-par Keane should have gone out of the window with the Arsenal game, when what little forward impetus we'd possessed evaporated after he came on—pretty much his first act was to give the ball to Song, take a couple of plodding steps in pursuit, and then stand and watch as the ball and Arsenal headed down our end at a rate of knots. If Gomes hadn't psyched Eduardo out it would have been an even bigger embarrassment.

I'm not inclined to disagree with you SS57, although I do see something in him that I just can't place, and therefore can't explain. I think he should be given more time to impress and to stamp his mark down on Tottenham because at times he can look excellent, others he can look pretty terrible.

My post was trying to add a little context to his 5 league goals, which meant a lot more to our season than might be suggested.

It's just worrying that Hiddink's pretty much admitted he doesn't know how to motivate him.

Still, look on the bright side. We could have signed Podolski instead.

pav's a joker, he aint even learnt english yet. there's no point in losing cash on a player who clearly has the talent. to me, it's a very simple and easy situation. loan him to a club like hull who need the firepower/willing to gamble and put it to him straight - you've looked lazy at times and no club is likely to pay 14 million for you and we are not a club that loses money on players. go on loan and show us and other teams you are worth being number one choice..

if he get's more time and experience in the league he could still be a good and important player for us in the future.
