As most threads today are commenting on last nights game, i thought i would go off on a completelt different tangeant here and get us discussing something else.

Who do you think would be the 5 first-choice penalty takers in a shootout should one arise (either in the cc final or uefa cup).

Thinking about it today and doesnt look good but we havent had many shootouts in the last few years (psv last year was an insight into what we have available).

Now normally keane and efoe would be in my top 5, but making it more difficult, they are cup tied. So without these 2 and anyone else who is cup tied, who would you have as the top 5?

Mine (struggling here)

1.Pav (cc only)
2.Bent
3.Jenas
4.Hudd
5.Modric

Do you not remember last year against PSV?

Bentley would take one - it would probably hit the corner flag, but he'd take one.

I was impressed with most of our penalties against PSV really. Zokora was the biggest surprise. Obviously it depends who's on the pitch but my prefered choices would be...

Pavyluchenko
Modric
Bent
Bentley
Huddlestone

and for the UEFA take out Pav, shift them all up and add O'Hara.

for those of you adding modric cast your minds back to euro 2008 when he missed the penalty that could have resulted in croatia beating turkey but i am sure it was just a blip

thudd is by FAR the best. i'd be most confident with him. pav is good but im not as confident when he steps up. seen thudd take about 5 penalties and they have all been top top quality. seen him place it into the top corner, smash it low right in the corner and smash it into the top corner. hits the ball so cleanly.

bent is good but he always goes the same way. just the power that saves him.

lennon and malbranque bottled it BIG TIME v psv. chimbo and zokora were ahead of them! credit should have gone to chimbo for at least stepping up last season!

The nerves must get to Lennon. It's like at WC '06 against Portugal, McClaren took off Lennon for Jamie fucking Carragher to take a penalty. What the fuck...
